To stream rain-on-a-tent ambience on YouTube around the clock, prepare footage and audio you have rights to use, configure an encoder to loop them, connect it to YouTube with a stream key, and test the complete setup before leaving it live. A computer running the encoder is the do-it-yourself option; a YouTube-only cloud service such as StreamNeo can keep uploaded video running without leaving a computer on. Before you start: check rights and channel access
Use footage and sound you are allowed to broadcast
Use tent footage and rain audio that you created or have permission to use on YouTube. A track or video labeled “rain ambience,” or one available on another channel, is not automatically cleared for your stream. Keep copies of licenses and other permission records. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; unresolved matches can interrupt or terminate a broadcast. Read YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance and its Terms of Service before using material you did not create.
Confirm the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions within the previous 90 days. Check access before preparing a long-running setup; if the channel is not eligible, resolve that first. See YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.
Set up a looping stream with an encoder
- Prepare a source that can repeat. Choose an encoder and configure your tent video and rain audio as repeating sources. The exact loop control depends on the encoder, so follow its current documentation rather than assuming a menu path. Preview the transition from the end back to the beginning: a visible jump, a gap, or a sudden audio change can be distracting even if the source is technically repeating.
- Create a YouTube live stream and obtain its stream key. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and use its encoder/streaming setup to access the stream key and server information. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your stream. Enter it only in your encoder’s YouTube connection settings.
- Match the encoder output to your connection. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, up to 60 fps, AAC or MP3 audio, and constant bitrate (CBR) encoding. Its current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds. Use the protocol and codec your encoder supports and that YouTube Studio accepts.
- Choose a resolution your upload can sustain. YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrates are 4 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps and 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. These are platform recommendations, not a guarantee of stable delivery on your particular connection. A lower resolution with consistent delivery is preferable to a higher setting that repeatedly drops frames. Test the actual upload connection at the intended output settings.
- Start the encoder and verify the YouTube preview. Confirm that YouTube receives the picture and sound, then check the stream-health indicators before making the stream public or leaving it running. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the intended broadcast, not just a static or muted preview.
Test continuity before leaving it live
Run a representative test long enough to catch a loop boundary, audio problem, unstable upload, or encoder issue. YouTube’s guidance says: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.” Keep YouTube’s stream-health panel visible during testing and watch for warnings.

- Listen at the beginning, across the loop point, and after the loop repeats. Check for silence, clipping, sudden volume changes, or a noticeable break.
- Watch the video through at least one complete repeat. Confirm that the picture does not freeze or drift out of sync with the sound.
- Check that your upload can sustain the chosen bitrate. OBS’s streaming connection troubleshooting guide notes that rising dropped frames can point to unstable network connectivity or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain.
- Use a wired connection if practical, and avoid relying on a connection that is already heavily used. Lower the output bitrate or resolution if the test shows recurring delivery problems.
A 24/7 feed is possible as a continuous-broadcast model: YouTube’s live broadcasts and streams API guide documents the broadcast and stream resources used for this purpose. The guide does not establish a universal encoder loop setting or guarantee uninterrupted operation, so verify your own source, connection, and encoder before relying on a long session.
Plan for recording separately from going live
Do not rely on YouTube’s automatic archive to preserve a full day-long broadcast. YouTube says a live stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all and recommends keeping a local archive backup when retaining the stream matters. See YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.

If you need a complete recording, configure a separate local recording and check that the computer has enough storage and remains powered for the intended recording period. Confirm beforehand that the recording starts and contains usable audio and video. Streaming and recording together also add work for the computer, so test both at once rather than assuming a setup that streams successfully can record reliably.
Copyright and monetization are separate questions
Clear every part of the scene
Rights to the visual footage do not necessarily include rights to the rain sound, and the reverse is also true. Check the license scope for each component, including whether it permits live streaming on YouTube. Keep evidence of permission available in case a rights claim interrupts the broadcast.

A loop is not an automatic route to monetization
YouTube’s monetization policy says highly repetitive or mass-produced channel content may be ineligible. A single ambience scene repeated continuously does not by itself establish eligibility. YouTube evaluates content in context, including whether videos provide meaningful creative, educational, or other value; do not count on a loop alone qualifying for monetization. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

YouTube does not receive the encoder feed
- Check the stream key and server details. Compare the encoder settings with the current setup shown in YouTube Studio. If the key may have been exposed or copied incorrectly, replace it in Studio and update the encoder.
- Check channel access. Make sure the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days.
- Check the ingest connection. Confirm the encoder is using a protocol supported by YouTube and that the network permits the connection.
The picture or sound stutters
- Check stream health and dropped frames. Unstable upload or an unsustainable bitrate can interrupt delivery. Test again at a lower bitrate or resolution, then raise settings only if the connection remains stable.
- Check the computer load. If the encoder struggles while streaming or recording, reduce output demands or avoid running unnecessary tasks at the same time.
- Test audio independently. Confirm the rain track is audible, does not clip, and stays synchronized with the video.
The loop has a gap or abrupt transition
Inspect the original file and the encoder’s repeat behavior. Adjust or edit the source so the end and beginning meet more naturally, then test another full cycle before relaunching.
The stream is interrupted by a copyright match
Review YouTube’s notice and identify the matched material. Do not assume a claim is harmless or that a public upload grants permission. Replace the disputed footage or audio with material you own or have cleared, and retain the permission record.
