You need to check its operating system and encoder, choose a modest stream setup, test the complete scene for sustained performance, and have a plan for interruptions. OBS can send a live feed from the laptop; for a stream made from uploaded recordings rather than a live microphone, a cloud service such as StreamNeo is another option.
Decide what “24/7 Hindi ASMR” means for your channel
There are two different setups. For live ASMR, the laptop encodes a camera or visual scene and audio from a microphone, so someone and the recording equipment must be present when you want to perform. For a continuous stream built from already-recorded ASMR, an encoder can play a prepared media source, but the laptop still has to stay powered, connected, and running.
Neither arrangement is guaranteed to remain online continuously just because it is labelled 24/7. An old laptop’s suitability depends on its processor, graphics and available encoder, output settings, scene complexity, cooling, and upload connection. OBS cautions that meeting its minimum system requirements does not guarantee that a computer can stream or record successfully. OBS system requirements
Check the laptop before setting up OBS
- Record the model and operating system. Check the laptop’s system information rather than guessing from its age. OBS’s published basic requirements list Windows 10 or 11 and a DirectX 10.1-compatible GPU; macOS 11 or later with an Intel or Apple Silicon CPU and OpenGL 3.3-compatible GPU; and Linux/Unix with OpenGL 3.3 and X Window System or Wayland. Requirements can change, so check the current OBS page for your operating system.
- Identify the CPU, graphics hardware, and available encoders. The exact hardware matters more than a broad label such as “old laptop.” Do not assume hardware encoding is available or supported.
- Inspect storage, fans, vents, and power. A laptop that overheats, has obstructed vents, or loses power cannot be made reliable by a lower stream bitrate alone. Place it on a hard, ventilated surface and use a stable power supply.
- Check outbound internet speed and stability. Run a speed test on the same connection the stream will use. Upload capacity must leave room for network variation; a result from a different network or time is not a guarantee.
Set up OBS and connect the YouTube channel
- Install OBS Studio from the official OBS site and open its Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting point. Treat the suggested configuration as something to test, not proof the laptop can sustain it.
- Create a simple scene. For a prerecorded stream, add the media source containing the recording or playlist. For live ASMR, add the camera or visual source and microphone. Start without unnecessary browser overlays, animated graphics, or filters; each additional source or effect can add workload.
- Prepare the YouTube livestream. In YouTube Studio, use the Live Control Room to create or schedule a stream. For computer-based encoder streaming, YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s computer live-streaming guidance.
- Enter the server URL and stream key in OBS. Use the stream details shown by YouTube for that broadcast. A stream key is a credential: do not publish or share it, and reset it if you think it has been exposed.
- Keep the broadcast private or unlisted while testing. Check that YouTube receives the feed and that its Live Control Room preview shows the expected video and audio before making a public stream.
Choose settings the laptop and connection can sustain
Start with a modest resolution and frame rate, then adjust only after testing. A static or lightly moving visual generally avoids the added work of elaborate scenes, but the actual encoding load depends on the laptop, source material, filters, and encoder. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends CBR, H.264 for RTMP/RTMPS, AAC or MP3 audio, and a keyframe interval of two seconds (no more than four seconds). YouTube encoder settings and bitrates

Run a speed test and leave room below the measured upload capacity for fluctuations. If the laptop’s CPU is struggling and a supported hardware encoder is available, hardware encoding can shift work away from the CPU. Test the full stream before relying on it
- Use a private or unlisted test stream and include the audio and movement the real broadcast will use. YouTube recommends testing with conditions similar to the intended stream and checking the Live Control Room preview and stream health. See YouTube’s live encoder troubleshooting guidance.
- Watch OBS’s CPU or encoder load and YouTube’s stream-health indications. Check for dropped frames, stuttering, delayed or missing audio, and changes in connection quality.
- Listen on another device or with headphones to catch problems that may not be obvious at the laptop. For live microphone ASMR, make sure the microphone is the intended audio input and that monitoring does not create feedback.
- Let the test run long enough to reveal sustained-load issues such as heat-related slowdowns or a connection that becomes unstable. There is no universal test duration that proves an unspecified laptop will stay online indefinitely.
- Only after the test looks and sounds right should you switch to the intended audience setting. Continue checking stream and audio quality during a real broadcast.
Plan for interruptions and YouTube archives
A laptop-based stream depends on the laptop, OBS, power, and internet connection continuing to work. For a channel presented as 24/7, arrange someone to check the broadcast and restart it when needed; do not promise uninterrupted operation from an untested machine. Keep the stream key private and know how to reopen the Live Control Room and reconnect OBS.

YouTube says encoder livestreams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that one continuous stream longer than 12 hours will be archived, so do not rely on a single all-day broadcast as the only copy of your ASMR recording. Make the Hindi ASMR stream original and rights-cleared
Hindi language and ASMR are not shortcuts to monetization. YouTube’s monetization policy page states that a July 15, 2025 clarification renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content is covered. The policy applies to live streams as well as other videos; channels should offer original, authentic content rather than interchangeable, template-driven material with little value. - Use audio and visuals you created or have permission to use. Copyright permission and monetization-policy review are separate issues.
- Give the stream meaningful originality or variation, such as your own performances, recordings, presentation, or carefully produced material. A static loop or lightly altered template is not assured to qualify for monetization.
- Do not assume that a particular language, genre, duration, or format guarantees YouTube Partner Program approval, revenue, or a specific audience.
If you are recording original live sounds, an external microphone may be useful; YouTube lists external microphones among typical encoder-streaming hardware. Headphones can help with monitoring. Troubleshoot common problems
