To keep prerecorded vacation-rental tours running on a YouTube Live watch page, send them through an encoder or streaming service that can repeat the video or playlist. YouTube Studio supplies the stream URL and key and lets you preview and launch the broadcast; it does not, by itself, make a playlist loop. Confirm that your chosen playback workflow supports repeating for the duration you need, then test the entire setup before sharing the stream.
What you need for a continuous tour stream
- A YouTube channel with live-streaming access.
- Vacation-tour video files and permission to use every visual, soundtrack, voice-over, and other element in the stream.
- An encoder or service that can play and repeat the selected video or playlist for the intended duration. Looping is a feature of that workflow, not a general YouTube Studio setting.
- A stable internet connection with enough outbound upload capacity, plus a local backup if preserving the broadcast matters.
YouTube says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance for current requirements.
Set up the YouTube Live stream and loop
- Prepare and check the tour playlist. Add the footage in the order you want viewers to see it. Set the encoder or playback service to repeat the video or playlist, and check that it will continue for your planned broadcast duration. Do not assume a device or encoder loops just because it can send prerecorded media to YouTube.
- Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Create or schedule a live stream using the encoder workflow. Copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s matching fields. Treat the key like a password: keep it private, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Configure the encoder. YouTube’s general encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; do not set the keyframe interval above four seconds. For 720p at 30 fps, YouTube’s settings table gives a video-bitrate range of 2–6 Mbps. Choose settings supported by your encoder and source footage, and consult YouTube’s table for other resolutions and frame rates rather than applying the 720p figures to them. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
- Check upload capacity. Measure the connection’s upload performance, not just its download speed. YouTube recommends 20% upload bandwidth headroom above the stream’s bitrate. Leave that margin for network variation; a disruption can interrupt the stream. Its streaming tips cover network preparation and continuity checks.
- Preview before going live. Start the encoder feed, then use YouTube Live Control Room to confirm that the incoming video and audio look right. Check the public watch page and verify the tour sequence advances and repeats as intended. Launch only after the preview and loop behave correctly.
- Monitor the broadcast. Keep an eye on the encoder and Live Control Room for dropped connections, stalled playback, or audio and video problems. If the broadcast stops, restore the encoder or service connection and check the watch page before telling viewers it is back.
Choose a workflow that actually repeats the tours
Computer-based encoder
A software encoder can send a prerecorded feed from a computer, provided its playback source or playlist can repeat. The computer, encoder, and internet connection must remain available while the broadcast runs. Test a full cycle and a reconnect before relying on it for a long event; YouTube’s encoder setup instructions do not guarantee that any particular playlist will loop or recover automatically.
Dedicated hardware
YouTube’s encoder directory lists the AJA HELO Plus and describes its PlayToStream feature as scheduling prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. That listing does not establish that PlayToStream repeats indefinitely. Confirm the exact repeat behavior and current availability with the vendor before choosing it for an uninterrupted loop. See YouTube’s encoder directory.

Cloud playback
A cloud service can keep playback running without leaving a home computer on. Confirm that the service accepts your prerecorded footage, supports the repeat behavior and duration you need, and reconnects appropriately if YouTube or the connection drops. For a YouTube-only option designed to loop uploaded videos, see StreamNeo below.
Copyright, permissions, and YouTube policies
You are responsible for having the rights needed to broadcast every part of the tour worldwide, including music. YouTube’s livestream terms state that streamers represent and warrant they have the necessary rights for live content on Google services, including music licensing rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may lead to a placeholder, interruption, or termination; even licensed material may still require the rights holder to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist. Check permissions and allowlisting with the rights holder before going live. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
Plan for long streams and replays
Do not rely on YouTube to retain a complete recording of a very long broadcast. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends keeping a local backup. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours, so viewers may not be able to rewind the entire broadcast. See YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance.

If the tour broadcast itself matters as a deliverable, record it locally or retain the original files independently of the YouTube archive. A continuous live page is not a substitute for a verified recording.
Troubleshoot common loop-stream problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The channel cannot start a live stream | Verification is incomplete or live streaming is restricted. | Check channel verification and live-streaming eligibility in YouTube Studio; resolve any restriction before scheduling. |
| The stream never appears in Live Control Room | Incorrect stream URL or key, encoder not sending, or connection issue. | Compare the URL and key with the stream’s YouTube Studio details, confirm the encoder is running, and check its connection status. Keep the key private. |
| The video plays once and stops | The playback source is not configured to repeat, or the selected encoder does not support the required loop. | Enable repeat in the player or playlist settings and test a complete cycle. Verify the capability with the encoder vendor if the setting is unclear. |
| The stream drops or becomes unstable | Upload capacity may be insufficient or fluctuate. | Check outbound speed and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom. Review the encoder and network connection, then preview again before relaunching. |
| Licensed music triggers a copyright interruption | The rights holder’s channel allowlist may not include your channel, or the license may not cover the live use. | Confirm the license covers worldwide live streaming and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting; then follow YouTube’s copyright notices. |
| The replay is missing or incomplete | A broadcast exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. | Use a local recording or original-file backup rather than relying on the YouTube archive for a very long stream. |
