To stream devotional recordings through MediaMTX to YouTube around the clock, run a media source that publishes audio and video to a MediaMTX path, then configure MediaMTX to forward that path to YouTube over RTMPS. The documented FFmpeg loop repeats one file; rotating several bhajans or other recordings requires a separate playlist source. A continuous broadcast also depends on a host, network, monitoring, and restart plan—not just a looping command.
How the MediaMTX-to-YouTube setup works
The flow has two stages: FFmpeg publishes media to a MediaMTX RTMP path, and MediaMTX forwards that path to YouTube using the current ingest destination and stream key. MediaMTX documents FFmpeg as an RTMP publishing client, with the published stream available on the path named in its URL (RTMP clients). The example below uses the path mystream.
This setup repeats a single file. It is not, by itself, a manager for a folder or a playlist of different devotional tracks.
Prepare the devotional program
Check the media tracks
The program forwarded to YouTube needs both an audio track and a video track. MediaMTX warns that YouTube silently rejects video-only streams (MediaMTX: Forward streams). An audio recording can therefore be paired with a static visual, but the outgoing program still needs to contain video as well as audio.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The documented FFmpeg example uses MP4 input and copies its codecs. That is suitable only when the media codecs and container work throughout the ingest path; the example does not establish compatibility for every file. Test the actual source before depending on it for a long broadcast.
Confirm rights to every recording and image
Before going live, make sure you have the rights needed for each composition, sound recording, image, and video. Devotional subject matter does not itself establish permission to rebroadcast a particular recording or visual. No general permission can be inferred for a specific track.

Publish one repeating file to MediaMTX
MediaMTX documents this command for publishing an MP4 to its RTMP listener while looping the input indefinitely (MediaMTX: Publish with FFmpeg):
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i file.mp4 -c copy -f flv rtmp://localhost:1935/mystream
- Replace
file.mp4with the path to your media file. - Replace
mystreamwith the path you intend to forward from MediaMTX. - Run FFmpeg on the same host as MediaMTX if you are using
localhost. If they are on different hosts, the publishing URL must point to the reachable MediaMTX host instead.
-stream_loop -1 repeats the input without a set end; -re reads at the input’s native rate. -c copy avoids re-encoding, but only works when the source formats are accepted by the complete path. This command does not transcode, create a visual, or sequence multiple files.

If you need several devotional recordings
For a sequence of bhajans, aarti, Gurbani, or other recordings, add a playlist-capable source or process that outputs one continuous audio/video stream to MediaMTX. The documented single-file command does not specify a playlist format, track-transition behavior, metadata handling, or how playback resumes after a failure. Choose and test those behaviors in the playlist layer rather than assuming this loop command provides them.
Configure MediaMTX to forward the path to YouTube
- In YouTube’s current live-stream controls, obtain the ingest destination and stream key for the broadcast. YouTube’s current values are authoritative; MediaMTX notes that its example endpoint may change (MediaMTX: Forward streams).
- In the MediaMTX path configuration, add a forwarding destination for the path being published. The documented shape is:
paths:
mypath:
forward:
- dest: rtmps://CURRENT_YOUTUBE_INGEST_URL#STREAM_KEY
The endpoint and key above are placeholders, not values to paste literally. Use the current YouTube ingest address, the rtmps:// scheme shown in MediaMTX’s example, and the stream key after #. Match the configured MediaMTX path to the path in FFmpeg’s publishing URL; if the example uses mystream, configure that path rather than mypath.

Treat the stream key like a password. Keep it out of screenshots and public configuration, and redact it from logs before sharing them.
Test before relying on a 24/7 broadcast
- Start MediaMTX and publish the source to the intended path. MediaMTX’s basic-usage guide describes publishing a file into MediaMTX and reading the resulting stream with a client, a useful way to isolate local path or publishing problems (MediaMTX: Basic usage).
- Confirm the MediaMTX path is receiving the expected audio and video before investigating YouTube forwarding.
- Start the forward and check YouTube’s live preview or test event for both tracks and a stable incoming picture and sound.
- Only then switch to the intended broadcast setup. Verify the current YouTube live controls and account requirements for your channel; the MediaMTX examples do not establish account eligibility or current YouTube encoder requirements.
Plan for continuous operation
A loop flag does not make a deployment 24/7 by itself. The host must stay available, the network must remain connected, and the publishing and forwarding processes need monitoring and a restart strategy. Decide how you will detect a stalled source or dropped YouTube connection and how you will restore service. The cited MediaMTX examples do not promise automatic process supervision, monitoring, host uptime, or recovery behavior.

Likewise, the example provides no bitrate or resolution recommendation. If stream-copying is incompatible with the source or ingest path, choose an encoding approach using current YouTube guidance and the options supported by your installed FFmpeg build; do not assume a particular bitrate from this example.
Troubleshooting the common failure points
- YouTube does not receive the broadcast: Check that FFmpeg is publishing to the intended MediaMTX host and path, and that the configured forward entry targets that same path. Confirm the ingest destination and stream key against YouTube’s current live controls.
- YouTube silently rejects the stream: Confirm the forwarded program contains both audio and video tracks. A video-only stream is rejected according to MediaMTX’s forwarding documentation.
- FFmpeg cannot open the input: Check the media path and that the file is accessible to the user running FFmpeg. Replace the example filename with the actual path.
- The file plays but its codecs do not work through the full path: The example’s
-c copypasses codecs through without re-encoding. Test compatibility; if conversion is required, select settings based on current YouTube guidance rather than treating the example as a universal encoding profile. - The same recording repeats, but other tracks never play: That is the documented command’s expected behavior. It loops one input; use a separate playlist source for a sequence of files.
- The stream stops after a host, process, or network failure: A looping input cannot guarantee recovery from those events. Inspect which component stopped, then add suitable supervision and monitoring for your deployment.
