Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →You can loop a bhajan video with FFmpeg, publish it to MediaMTX, and have MediaMTX forward it to YouTube over RTMPS. The core file-source command uses real-time pacing and infinite looping; a separate MediaMTX path forwards the resulting stream to YouTube. You still need a compatible audio-and-video source, a current ingest URL and private stream key, a stable server, monitoring, and a local recording plan if you need an archive.
How the setup fits together
FFmpeg reads and loops your prepared recording, then publishes it to a MediaMTX path. MediaMTX relays that path to the YouTube ingest endpoint configured for your channel. The machine running FFmpeg and MediaMTX must stay powered and connected for the live feed to continue; this is a self-hosted workflow, not a hosted uptime guarantee.
- Source: a recording with both audio and video, which you have the right to broadcast.
- Publisher: FFmpeg reads the file in real time and loops it.
- Relay: MediaMTX accepts FFmpeg’s stream and forwards it to YouTube.
- Destination: YouTube Live Control Room supplies the current ingest URL and the stream key.
MediaMTX describes itself as a live media server and proxy for publishing, reading, proxying, recording, and playback of real-time audio and video. Its documentation recommends RTSP for publishing from FFmpeg and also documents RTMP. See MediaMTX’s introduction and FFmpeg publishing guide.
Prepare the bhajan source and YouTube channel
Check rights before going live
Use recordings and compositions you are authorized to broadcast. A recording being devotional, publicly available, or commonly shared does not itself establish that you have the necessary rights to the composition, performance, or recording. Technical setup cannot determine whether a particular track is cleared. Review YouTube’s rules and resolve rights before building a continuous channel around the material.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Prepare a compatible file
Confirm the source contains both a video stream and an audio stream. Even if the visual is nearly static, do not assume an audio-only file or a still image will be accepted as a valid live feed. Test the encoded output and verify that YouTube’s Live Control Room preview receives healthy audio and video. The official settings do not specify a special bhajan preset.
FFmpeg’s -c copy option passes the file’s existing audio and video streams through without re-encoding. That avoids an extra encoding step, but it also means the source codecs and stream layout must be compatible with the publishing and destination path. If the file is incompatible, choose or prepare a compatible source and test it; the example command is not a universal conversion recipe.
Get YouTube’s current stream details
In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and obtain the current stream URL and stream key for the stream you intend to run. Do not copy an ingest address from an old example: MediaMTX warns that the URL in its guide may have changed. Treat the key like a password. Keep it out of public configuration files, screenshots, tutorials, and repositories. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room. YouTube explains its live settings at YouTube live settings.

Publish a looping file to MediaMTX with FFmpeg
Install FFmpeg and MediaMTX on the machine that will run the channel, start MediaMTX with its RTSP publishing endpoint available, and replace file.mp4 with the actual path to your source. The following command is the documented MediaMTX example for publishing a file over RTSP:

Replace the illustrative host and key with the current values from Live Control Room, and configure the path to match the stream path you publish to. Do not paste the placeholder literally. Keep the key private wherever this configuration is stored. Use the current MediaMTX syntax from its forwarding guide; the example above communicates the documented shape rather than a complete configuration file for every MediaMTX version.
Prefer RTMPS, which is RTMP transported over TLS/SSL. YouTube recommends secure RTMPS delivery in its RTMPS guidance. MediaMTX also documents changing the destination scheme to rtmps://. Its forwarding guide notes that YouTube requires both video and audio tracks; a video-only feed may be silently rejected.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSet and verify encoder parameters
YouTube’s current RTMP/RTMPS encoder recommendations allow H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR) encoding; and frame rates up to 60 fps. For stereo audio, its advanced recommendations specify 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Consult its encoder settings for bitrate ranges by codec, resolution, and frame rate.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Match quality to the connection: choose a resolution and bitrate the server’s sustained upload connection can deliver. Leave capacity for overhead and ordinary network variation rather than planning to use every bit of measured upload bandwidth.
- Check the actual source: with
-c copy, FFmpeg does not change the file’s codec, frame rate, keyframe spacing, or audio settings. If the source does not meet the needs of the YouTube ingest, copying it will not fix that mismatch; prepare a compatible encode and test it. - Keep audio present: check that the selected file includes the intended audio track and that it reaches the Live Control Room preview alongside video.
- Test representative motion and audio: a mostly static devotional visual can conceal problems that appear at scene changes or during louder passages. YouTube recommends testing with audio and motion similar to the intended stream and monitoring stream health and messages during the event.
Run a preflight before making the channel public
- Verify that the selected recording is cleared for broadcast and contains both audio and video.
- Start MediaMTX and run the FFmpeg publishing command. Confirm that MediaMTX receives the stream at the intended path.
- Configure forwarding with the current YouTube RTMPS ingest URL and private stream key.
- Open the Live Control Room preview. Confirm it receives both tracks, audio is audible, and the stream health indicators and messages are acceptable.
- Test long enough to observe playback, the file loop, network behavior, and any errors. A successful connection at startup alone does not establish that a 24/7 process will remain healthy.
- Confirm that the server will stay powered and connected, and decide how you will monitor it, restart failed processes, and recover if the source or connection stops.
- If you need a replay, start and verify a separate local recording plan before relying on YouTube’s archive.
YouTube’s livestreaming tips recommend monitoring quality and checking that a local archive file is growing and valid, as well as testing failover and confirming event accessibility.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Plan for long-stream archives and DVR limits
A 24-hour live feed does not guarantee a 24-hour replay. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. The 12-hour figure is an archive limitation, not an uptime guarantee. If a replay matters, record locally and check that the file is growing and remains playable. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
DVR lets viewers pause and rewind during a live stream when enabled, but YouTube warns that rewind can be limited or unavailable for very long streams, including streams longer than 12 hours. Enabling DVR does not remove that limitation. See YouTube’s DVR guidance and its live settings.

Keep the stream running and troubleshoot failures
For a self-hosted setup, continuity depends on the machine, source file, FFmpeg process, MediaMTX process, and internet connection. Monitor the YouTube stream health as well as the processes and local network. Set up a way to detect and restart a failed process, and test that recovery behavior before treating the channel as unattended. Do not assume that the loop option reconnects to YouTube or repairs a dropped upstream connection.
| Symptom | Likely area to check | Action |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube preview stays blank or reports no valid stream | Forwarding destination, path mapping, ingest URL, or key | Check MediaMTX logs and the forwarding path; confirm the current URL and key in Live Control Room, then verify that the path being published is the one being forwarded. |
| Video appears but there is no sound | Source track selection or audio compatibility | Inspect the input for an audio stream and confirm audio reaches MediaMTX and YouTube. YouTube requires both audio and video for the documented forwarding setup. |
| Stream starts, then drops or becomes unhealthy | Network capacity, server stability, or unsupported source parameters | Check YouTube’s stream-health messages, sustained upload capacity, server power and connectivity, and whether the source meets YouTube’s encoder guidance. Test a representative segment before restoring public output. |
| Playback does not loop as expected | Input path, file readability, or loop behavior | Confirm FFmpeg can read the file and watch a complete repeat. The documented command loops a single file; it does not establish seamless transitions for arbitrary media. |
| Live feed works but no complete replay appears | YouTube archive duration | For streams exceeding 12 hours, YouTube may not capture an archive. Use and verify a separate local recording if retaining the full broadcast matters. |
| Configuration leaks or the stream key is exposed | Credential handling | Remove public copies and reset the compromised key in Live Control Room before continuing. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use an audio-only bhajan file with this setup?
No. The documented YouTube forwarding setup requires both audio and video tracks; verify both in the Live Control Room preview.
Does the FFmpeg loop command switch between multiple files?
No. The example repeats one input file. A playlist or a sequence of files needs a separately prepared source workflow.
Can I rely on the YouTube archive for a full-day replay?
No. YouTube may not capture streams exceeding 12 hours; maintain and verify a local recording if the full replay matters.
