You can loop a prerecorded Hindi yoga nidra session on YouTube Live without using a phone: run OBS on a computer, send its output to a YouTube encoder stream, and enable Loop on the recording’s Media Source. You’ll need YouTube Live enabled for your channel, a local copy of the recording, a stable upload connection, and permission to use all the video and audio in the stream.
What you need before you start
- A computer and the recording file. This workflow uses OBS to play a local file. The computer must stay on and connected for as long as the DIY stream runs.
- YouTube Live access. YouTube’s computer-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time Live activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned broadcast. YouTube: Create a live stream with an encoder
- An upload connection that can sustain the stream. Test it at the quality you intend to use; a still or slowly moving meditation image does not guarantee that an unstable connection will hold.
- Rights to the complete recording. Make sure you are allowed to broadcast both the spoken session and any music, ambient audio, images, or video it contains.
YouTube offers encoder, mobile, and webcam routes. An encoder is the appropriate route for a phone-free setup. YouTube’s mobile route has separate device and eligibility conditions, including at least 50 subscribers for mobile live streaming; that figure is not an encoder eligibility threshold. Set up the looping stream with OBS
1. Enable Live and create an encoder stream
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using the encoder option. If Live is not enabled on the channel, complete YouTube’s verification and activation steps first; allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- In the Live Control Room, retrieve the stream URL and stream key for that stream. The key is a credential that tells the encoder where to send its feed, so keep it private. 2. Add the recording and turn on Loop
- In OBS, create a scene for the broadcast.
- Add a Media Source to that scene and select the local Hindi yoga nidra recording.
- Enable the Media Source’s Loop option. When playback reaches the end of the file, OBS should start it again.
- Check the source’s audio and video in the OBS preview. OBS supports common media formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. If you need to loop several files as a playlist, OBS’s VLC Video source can do that, but VLC must be installed. OBS: Media Sources
3. Choose output settings and check the connection
Use an output quality that your upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends testing the upload bitrate with a representative stream that includes audio and motion, checking the Live Control Room preview, and monitoring stream health. Its general encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, H.264, constant bitrate encoding, and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. Use the specific output settings shown in YouTube’s encoder guidance for your chosen resolution and frame rate; do not raise bitrate simply because the recording is a meditation. The file’s low visual movement cannot compensate for an unreliable connection.

4. Test the whole broadcast before announcing it
- Start the encoder setup ahead of the intended event and open the YouTube Live Control Room preview.
- Confirm OBS is sending the intended scene and that the preview shows the recording.
- Listen to the preview to verify that the session’s audio reaches YouTube at a usable level.
- Let the file reach its end and verify that it starts again as expected.
- Check YouTube’s stream-health indicators and monitor audio and video quality while the stream is running.

Check copyright and rebroadcast permission
A recording being prerecorded does not make it free to rebroadcast. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. A match may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or lead to termination. YouTube also says that even licensed third-party content may be interrupted unless the rights holder adds the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Choose a setup that fits how long it must run
OBS on a computer you already have
This is the direct do-it-yourself option when a suitable computer is available and someone can keep it powered, connected, and monitored. It avoids buying dedicated streaming hardware, but a computer shutdown, OBS interruption, or network failure can stop the broadcast.
Standalone encoder hardware
YouTube recognizes hardware encoders as well as software encoders. Dedicated hardware is an alternative if it suits your setup, but the workflow here does not establish that you need to purchase one. Consider the equipment already available, setup complexity, who will monitor the stream, and the actual capacity of your network.

The channel cannot start an encoder stream
Check that the channel is verified, has no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days, and has completed Live activation. If this is the first activation, it may take up to 24 hours.

The preview is blank or OBS is not connecting
Confirm the encoder stream is open in the Live Control Room, the correct scene is active in OBS, and the stream URL and key belong to that stream. Treat the key as a password; if it has been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update OBS.
The recording stops instead of repeating
Reopen the Media Source properties and check that Loop is enabled on the correct source. If looping a playlist through the VLC Video source, make sure VLC is installed.

The stream looks unstable or has poor audio
Test the actual upload connection with a representative stream, then lower output quality or bitrate to a level it can sustain. Check YouTube’s preview and stream-health indicators, confirm the intended scene is active, and listen to the audio in the preview.
YouTube interrupts or terminates the stream
Check for a third-party content match and verify that you have permission to broadcast every part of the recording. A licence alone may not prevent interruption if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
