To loop a prerecorded yoga nidra video on YouTube Live, create an encoder-based live event in YouTube Studio, then send the video to YouTube with FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 option. The command below repeats the input indefinitely; you still need a verified, eligible channel, a working upload connection, and a video you have permission to broadcast.
Before you start
- Install FFmpeg on a computer that can remain connected and running for the duration of the stream.
- Use a channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- Have your yoga nidra video ready. Check that its picture plays correctly and that the intended audio is present.
- Confirm you have the rights to stream both the video and its audio. Yoga nidra does not have a special copyright exception.
- Test your upload connection and plan a bitrate that it can sustain. YouTube recommends testing the actual stream before the event.
Keep the YouTube stream key private: YouTube describes it as functioning like the password and address for your stream.
Create a YouTube Live event and get the encoder details
- Open YouTube Studio’s encoder setup workflow and go to Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a live stream. Set the title, visibility and other event details. Use an unlisted test event if you want to check playback before promoting a public broadcast.
- Choose the encoder workflow and copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event. Do not publish or share the key.
- In FFmpeg, provide the RTMPS ingest address and the key in the form expected by the encoder destination. Depending on the setup, the URL and key may be separate fields or combined; YouTube’s LiveStreams API reference describes the ingestion address and stream-name fields.
Run FFmpeg with an infinite loop
For a 30 fps H.264 video with AAC audio, this is a practical starting command. Replace the example file name and the quoted destination with the actual values YouTube provides:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i yoga-nidra.mp4
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -tune zerolatency
-pix_fmt yuv420p -r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv 'rtmps://INGESTION_URL/STREAM_KEY'
-stream_loop -1 is an input option, so put it before -i. FFmpeg repeats the input indefinitely; -re paces file reading in real time. The command uses a 60-frame GOP at 30 fps, giving a two-second keyframe interval. Its 128 Kbps AAC audio bitrate matches YouTube’s recommended stereo audio setting. The video bitrate is intentionally not specified: choose it for the resolution and frame rate, then verify it against YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance and your sustainable upload speed.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For reference, YouTube’s published H.264 recommendations include 10 Mbps for 1080p30 and 6 Mbps for 720p30. These are recommendations, not guarantees that every connection can sustain the stream. YouTube currently recommends CBR, RTMPS, a two-second keyframe interval (with four seconds as the maximum), and a bitrate suited to the resolution, frame rate and codec. Its guidance lists H.264, H.265 and AV1 video, up to 60 fps, and AAC or MP3 audio; the example command above specifically encodes H.264/AAC. Check the current guidance before changing those settings.
Check the preview before going public
- Start the command and watch the YouTube Live Control Room preview.
- Confirm that the picture, audio and looping behavior are correct, and inspect YouTube’s stream-health messages.
- If you tested with an unlisted event, do not share it publicly until you have confirmed the stream works as intended.
- When the broadcast is finished, stop FFmpeg. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its guidance does not establish the same archive behavior for streams lasting longer.
Choose the right encoding and transport
- Resolution and bitrate: Pick a YouTube-recommended bitrate for the resolution and frame rate, while leaving sufficient upload headroom. If the connection cannot sustain the target, reduce resolution or bitrate and test again.
- Transport: YouTube recommends RTMPS for encryption and also lists RTMP as an option. Use the secure endpoint when it is available for your event.
- Re-encode or copy: The example re-encodes to H.264/AAC so the output settings are explicit. Stream copying can reduce CPU use only when the source codecs, timestamps and keyframe structure suit YouTube’s live ingest; it is not a safe assumption for every file.
- Test visibility: An unlisted test lets you check the actual stream before you announce a public event. Match the test’s audio and motion to what you expect in the real broadcast.
Troubleshooting
YouTube shows no preview
Check that you copied the correct event’s stream URL and current key, and confirm the destination is formatted as the encoder expects. If you suspect the key was exposed or compromised, a channel owner or manager can reset it in YouTube Studio; update FFmpeg with the new value.

The stream buffers or health is poor
Compare the selected bitrate with the upload capacity you can sustain. Run a speed test, lower the resolution or bitrate if needed, and repeat a test stream while monitoring YouTube’s health messages.
The video repeats but audio does not, or timestamps fail
Inspect the source file’s video and audio streams and try a short unlisted test. Source-specific looping and timestamp failures can vary by file; the example command is a starting point, not a guarantee for every media file.

The broadcast is longer than 12 hours
YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not rely on that statement to predict archive behavior for a longer broadcast.
