To stream a pre-recorded playlist on YouTube Live at a fixed 1080p frame rate, send the playlist through an encoder configured for 1920×1080 and either 30 or 60 fps. Create a YouTube Live event, connect the encoder using the event’s stream URL and key, then test the playlist and stream health before the broadcast. The encoder handles playback and frame rate; YouTube receives its finished video feed.
Choose 1080p30 or 1080p60
Set one target frame rate in the encoder and keep it fixed for the broadcast. When possible, choose the rate that best matches your source files. A 60 fps output needs more upload bandwidth than 30 fps, and converting lower-frame-rate footage to 60 fps does not add original motion detail.
| Output | YouTube-recommended H.264 bitrate | Minimum H.264 bitrate listed |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps | 5 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s recommended ingest figures, not a guarantee that every viewer will immediately receive 1080p. YouTube transcodes live input into multiple playback formats. Choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain reliably, and verify actual stream health during a test. YouTube also lists AV1/H.265 options: 1080p30 at 10 Mbps recommended and 4 Mbps minimum, and 1080p60 at 12 Mbps recommended and 4 Mbps minimum. These figures are codec-specific; do not apply them to an H.264 stream. YouTube encoder settings
Create the YouTube Live event and protect its key
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule a live event. Set its title, privacy, and other metadata for the broadcast.
- Choose an encoder stream key for the event. Copy the stream URL and key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- If you need to select resolution manually in YouTube, create a custom stream key and enable “Turn on manual settings” under Stream Resolution. YouTube otherwise detects encoder settings automatically by default.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Configure the encoder for 1080p
Set the encoder’s output canvas and stream output to 1920×1080, then select the chosen fixed frame rate. For YouTube ingest over RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video, CBR bitrate encoding, and AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends RTMPS, a 2-second keyframe interval (no more than 4 seconds), and for SDR, Rec. 709, progressive scan, square pixels, and 8-bit depth among its advanced recommendations. Match the settings to the codec your encoder is actually sending; settings for one codec should not be assumed to apply to another. YouTube encoder settings
OBS is listed by YouTube as a verified software encoder. The particular controls for creating, ordering, and looping a playlist depend on the encoder and version; check the documentation for your installed version rather than assuming a universal YouTube playlist setting. Build and verify the playlist
- Add the prerecorded files as media playback inputs or use a playlist feature supported by your chosen encoder.
- Check file order, transitions, audio routing, and what happens at the end of the list. Confirm whether playback loops or stops; behavior varies by encoder.
- Play a representative segment locally. Confirm the picture is 1920×1080, the output frame rate stays fixed, and the audio is present and correctly routed.
- Enter the YouTube stream URL and key in the encoder, then start sending the feed. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators before making the event public or allowing it to begin.
YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream and monitoring stream health. Its guidance says: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.” YouTube encoder settings
Choose software or dedicated hardware
A software encoder such as OBS can send files played on the same computer, so a capture card is not inherently required for local prerecorded media. YouTube’s verified-encoder listing also describes the AJA HELO Plus as a standalone H.264 encoder with PlayToStream, which can schedule prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live. It is an optional hardware route, not a prerequisite for an ordinary software workflow. Current purchase price and retail availability are not established here. YouTube verified encoders

Troubleshoot common problems
- Stream does not appear in the event: check that the encoder has the correct stream URL and key for the selected event, and that it is actively sending.
- Stream health reports instability: test the upload connection and lower the bitrate if it cannot sustain the configured rate. YouTube’s recommended H.264 values are targets when the connection can reliably carry them, not a reason to ignore dropped frames or health warnings.
- Resolution is not 1080p: verify the encoder output is 1920×1080. If manual resolution selection is needed in YouTube, use a custom stream key and enable “Turn on manual settings” under Stream Resolution.
- Frame rate changes or motion looks wrong: confirm a single target frame rate in the encoder and check that the playlist’s source files and playback behavior are compatible with it.
- Playlist stops or plays the wrong item: inspect the encoder’s playlist order and end/loop controls in the exact installed version, then test the whole sequence locally. Playlist behavior is encoder-specific.
- No audio or misplaced audio: check the encoder’s audio input/routing and confirm the selected audio format is AAC or MP3 for the listed RTMP/RTMPS ingest settings.
