To stream a Tamil devotional playlist as a YouTube Live loop, prepare music and visuals you have rights to use, send them from an encoder to a YouTube stream, and confirm the preview before starting the event. The repeat-playback controls depend on the encoder, so test the complete playlist loop before relying on it unattended. Before you set up the stream
Make sure the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned stream. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance covers channel eligibility and getting started.
Clear rights for both the song and the recording
A devotional subject or an old composition does not automatically make a particular recording free to stream. Confirm that your permissions cover the composition and the specific sound recording, along with live streaming and any archived replay. Keep the license or written permission available. YouTube’s terms put responsibility for necessary rights, including music licensing rights, on the creator: YouTube Terms of Service.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can result in a placeholder, interruption, or termination. Even if you have a license, the rightsholder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; an archived stream may also receive a Content ID claim after the event. Check notices in Live Control Room or YouTube Studio, and contact the rightsholder about allowlisting if appropriate. A license does not guarantee that automated matching will not interrupt the stream. YouTube’s guidance on live-streaming copyrighted content explains the matching process.

Prepare the playlist and test the loop
Assemble the media
- Build a rights-cleared playlist. Use only music recordings for which you have the relevant streaming and replay permissions.
- Choose a visual. A static image or simple visual loop can accompany the audio; a live camera or microphone is not inherently necessary for a prepared playlist stream.
- Configure repeat playback in your encoder. Select the playlist or media source and set its repeat behavior in the encoder you choose. YouTube’s help pages do not specify playlist-repeat controls for a particular encoder, so do not assume a setting or project will loop correctly without testing it.
- Run a full test. Check that the last item returns to the first without silence, a gap, a black screen, or an unexpected stop. Test the actual files and encoder configuration you intend to use.
YouTube supports encoder software and hardware as setup options, and lists OBS among encoders that support HLS output. That does not establish how a particular version or configuration repeats a playlist. For supported workflows YouTube recommends RTMPS; HLS uses its own ingestion settings and has higher latency. Check the selected encoder’s current documentation and YouTube’s live encoder settings before choosing a protocol.
Create the YouTube Live event and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room. Create or schedule the event and locate its stream settings.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream into the matching fields in your encoder.
- Keep the stream key private. YouTube describes it as functioning like a password and address for the encoder; do not show it in a public screenshot or overlay. If it is exposed, replace it in Live Control Room before streaming.
- Start the encoder, then wait for the incoming video and audio preview in Live Control Room.
- Check the picture, sound, playlist order, and stream health. Start the scheduled or public event only once the preview is correct.
The labels can change as YouTube updates Studio, but the encoder workflow is to create or schedule a stream, enter its server URL and key in the encoder, start the encoder, inspect the preview, and then start the event. See YouTube’s instructions for using an encoder to go live.

Choose settings your connection can sustain
There is no single appropriate resolution or bitrate for every connection and source. Select a resolution and bitrate the encoder can maintain reliably, using YouTube’s current recommendations for the chosen resolution and protocol. YouTube advises keeping upload capacity at least 20% above the total stream bitrate, so the connection has headroom rather than running at its limit. Test the stream and monitor health in Live Control Room before and during the event. YouTube’s encoder settings lists its recommended settings and monitoring guidance.
- Measure the available upload bandwidth where the encoder will run; do not rely only on a plan’s advertised maximum.
- Include the total outgoing stream bitrate when checking the 20% headroom recommendation.
- Use RTMPS when the encoder supports it and the workflow allows it, following YouTube’s settings for the selected protocol.
- For HLS, configure the HLS ingestion settings rather than assuming they match RTMP/RTMPS settings; account for its higher latency.
Monitor the broadcast and protect the replay
During the live stream
Check Live Control Room for stream-health warnings and keep an eye on the audio and video. A long unattended stream deserves a complete preflight: playlist repeat, stable upload, correct preview, and rights status. If YouTube flags licensed music, inspect Studio or Live Control Room notices and ask the rightsholder whether your channel can be allowlisted.

End cleanly and plan for archiving
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. End the live session before it exceeds 12 hours if you want to improve the chance of an automatic replay, and make a separate local recording as a backup. YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance describes the limit.

DIY encoder
A software encoder is a practical starting point for a static playlist loop; dedicated capture hardware is not inherently required when you are not producing a live camera setup. The trade-off is that the computer, encoder, and internet connection must keep running for the stream to continue. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required to get started. Its encoder guidance covers supported setup options.
