PRISM Live Studio’s documented features do not include a built-in clock-based scheduler that automatically switches prerecorded videos at set times. You can make and reuse a video playlist in PRISM mobile, or play local media and switch scenes manually in PRISM desktop. Scheduling a YouTube live event is not the same as scheduling which file plays at a particular hour. For unattended timing, an external OBS scheduling tool may be an option, but its compatibility with PRISM is not established in the guides covered here.
What PRISM can and cannot schedule
PRISM mobile: reusable video playlists
In PRISM mobile, you can create a Video playlist in My Studio using videos stored on your device. You can reorder entries, seek to a selected position, save the playlist, and reuse it. The playlist guide does not describe assigning a video to a time of day, automatically starting playback, or running a daily schedule. PRISM’s video playlist guide explains the documented playlist controls.
PRISM desktop: local media and scenes
PRISM desktop for Windows and Mac supports local media files, including video, image, and audio sources. You can arrange sources in scenes and change scenes during a stream, but the scene guide describes manual scene management rather than clock-triggered changes. In Studio Mode, a media source may not start playing automatically when added; PRISM documents adjusting “Restart playback when source becomes active” or using Apply in Studio Mode to address playback. See the Media Source guide and scene guide.
PRISM mobile: scheduled YouTube events
PRISM mobile lets you create or edit a scheduled YouTube live event. That determines when the event is listed or scheduled on YouTube; it does not establish that PRISM will automatically play a particular prerecorded file at that time. See PRISM’s YouTube scheduling guide.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Hotkeys and plugins
PRISM’s FAQ describes hotkeys for sources and scenes, which can help an operator switch setups, but a hotkey is not a clock scheduler. PRISM’s Windows plugin instructions say OBS plugins are supported from version 4.0.0 onward and specify PRISM 4.0.5 or higher for the documented installation flow. Neither those instructions nor the FAQ names a built-in time scheduler. Check the current PRISM FAQ and plugin guide for current details.
Choose an approach for your schedule
| Approach | What it supports | Best fit | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| PRISM mobile Video playlist | Create, reorder, seek within, save, and reuse a playlist. | An operator who can manage playback. | No documented clock assignment or unattended schedule. |
| PRISM desktop Media Source and scenes | Play local media and organize sources into scenes that can be changed manually. | A desktop stream with an operator managing transitions. | Playback setup and manual scene changes are documented; time triggers are not. |
| External OBS scheduling tool | Scene Scheduler’s manual describes scheduled scene and source changes for OBS. | A technical user willing to test an external setup. | Compatibility with PRISM is unverified; missed triggers, restarts, and stream continuity need testing. |
| PRISM YouTube event scheduling | Create or edit a scheduled YouTube live event. | Planning when a live event is listed. | Does not document timed prerecorded-file playback. |
These trade-offs follow from the documented features; they are not reliability measurements. The relevant decision points are whether operation must be unattended, what should happen after a missed trigger or restart, whether the tool works with your PRISM version and operating system, and whether each transition needs to occur at an exact time.

Set up a playlist or manual video rotation
For a human-operated mobile stream
- Open My Studio in PRISM mobile and create a Video playlist from videos on your device.
- Arrange the videos in the intended playback order. Use the playlist’s seek control if you need to choose a starting position.
- Save the playlist so it can be reused. Plan to manage playback yourself; the guide does not provide a time-of-day start or per-video schedule.
Follow the current playlist instructions for the app version you use.
For a desktop stream with manual changes
- Add each required local video as a Media Source and test it in the scene where you intend to use it.
- If a source does not start in Studio Mode, check “Restart playback when source becomes active” or use Apply in Studio Mode, as applicable to your setup.
- Create separate scenes or source arrangements for the different video blocks, then change scenes manually when each block should begin.
- Run a test stream or private rehearsal long enough to check playback, scene changes, and audio before relying on the setup.
PRISM’s guides cover local media and scene changes, not an automatic timetable. Confirm current menus and behavior in the Media Source and scene guides.

Can an external OBS scheduler automate the changes?
Scene Scheduler’s manual describes scheduled scene and source changes for OBS. OBS also documents local media sources, but that does not prove that this scheduler works with PRISM. PRISM says it supports some OBS plugins on Windows; that general statement is not verification of Scene Scheduler compatibility. Consult the OBS media-source documentation and Scene Scheduler manual, then test your exact combination before counting on it.
- Confirm that the scheduler’s current requirements match your operating system and the PRISM version you have installed.
- Install and configure it only using instructions that explicitly apply to your setup. Do not assume OBS plugin support means every OBS plugin works in PRISM.
- Schedule a harmless test change and verify that the expected source or scene changes at the intended time.
- Test what happens if the computer restarts, PRISM or the stream disconnects, or the scheduled trigger is missed. The cited guides do not establish automatic recovery for this external arrangement.
- Keep an operator available until you have verified playback and stream continuity across the times you care about.
PRISM’s plugin guidance is for Windows and documents an installation flow using PRISM 4.0.5 or higher; check its current plugin instructions rather than treating that as proof of support for a particular scheduler.

Troubleshoot common scheduling expectations
- A scheduled YouTube event starts, but the desired video does not. Event scheduling sets up the live event; it does not document timed selection or playback of a prerecorded file. Use an operator-managed playlist or scenes, or test an external scheduling setup.
- A desktop media source is visible but not playing. In Studio Mode, check the documented playback option “Restart playback when source becomes active” or use Apply in Studio Mode. Test the source in its intended scene.
- A hotkey changes the scene only when pressed. That is expected of a hotkey; the reviewed PRISM FAQ describes hotkeys, not a built-in clock trigger. An external scheduler would need separate compatibility testing.
- An OBS scheduling plugin does not work in PRISM. PRISM’s general support for some OBS plugins does not establish compatibility with this particular tool. Check the tool’s requirements, PRISM version, and operating system, and test before using it for a live schedule.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the actual goal is to keep prerecorded videos looping as a YouTube live stream without leaving a home computer on, StreamNeo is a different approach: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera, and it streams to YouTube only. It does not provide clock-based switching between files; use a playlist for the sequence you want.
