You can stream a sequence of Hindi devotional video files to YouTube Live by combining GStreamer playback with application logic that advances a playlist, then sending the encoded audio and video to YouTube’s ingest server. The playlist is not a turnkey feature that guarantees a continuous YouTube broadcast: you must manage the next file, errors and restarts, and verify that your installed GStreamer sink supports YouTube’s recommended secure RTMPS connection.
Before you build the stream
Check that the channel can go live
YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation for encoder streaming can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the intended broadcast. YouTube also says expensive equipment is not required. Confirm rights to every recording
Make sure you have permission to stream both the video and its audio. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; a match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it or terminate it. If a rights holder has licensed the material, they may still need to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist. A license by itself does not guarantee uninterrupted streaming. Create the YouTube encoder stream

Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream using an encoder workflow.

Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the broadcast. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, commit it to source control or expose it in logs.

Configure the GStreamer output to use the ingest address and key. YouTube says the watch page is created when the encoder starts sending content. Check the Live Control Room preview before making the stream public. The exact labels and options can change; follow the current YouTube encoder setup guide.
Build the playlist with GStreamer
playbin3 is a high-level GStreamer playback element: it accepts a media URI and selects supported demuxing and decoding components. It does not, by itself, schedule a multi-file live broadcast. An application must keep the ordered list, supply the next URI and decide what to do when playback fails.

Prepare the recordings and an ordered list of their absolute file URIs. Check that each file plays locally and that its audio and video formats can be decoded by the installed GStreamer build.

Have your application create and configure a
playbin3instance with the first URI. -
Connect to

Watch the GStreamer bus for end-of-stream and error messages. Playback and state changes are asynchronous, so do not assume that a state change succeeded simply because the request returned. Log which file was active and implement recovery for decode errors, missing files and unexpected stops.

Test transitions with the actual recordings. Decide how to handle differences in aspect ratio, frame rate, audio level and duration; the cited GStreamer playback documentation does not prescribe a devotional-playlist transition policy.

Connect playback to YouTube ingest
The output path must encode the media into a format YouTube accepts and send it to the stream’s ingest address. GStreamer’s rtmp2sink documentation gives a generic RTMP example using x264enc, flvmux and rtmp2sink; that example is not a complete playlist-to-YouTube pipeline and does not establish secure RTMPS support.
YouTube recommends RTMPS, its encrypted extension to RTMP. Before relying on a command or deployment, inspect the installed GStreamer version, plugins and sink capabilities, and confirm that the selected sink can connect over TLS to YouTube’s RTMPS address. Verify the required element and transport support locally; do not assume that a generic RTMP example accepts an RTMPS URL or that its caps negotiate correctly with your media. The rtmp2sink reference documents the sink, while YouTube’s encoder settings describes its ingest recommendations.
Choose encoder settings and test bandwidth
YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 as supported video codecs, and AAC or MP3 for audio. It recommends constant-bitrate encoding, supports frame rates up to 60 fps, and recommends a two-second keyframe interval, with no interval longer than four seconds. Set the output resolution and bitrate to values the upload connection can sustain; higher resolution is not useful if the connection cannot carry it reliably.

Run an upload speed test under conditions similar to the broadcast. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom; account for both primary and backup streams if you use them.

Use representative clips with motion and audio when checking encoding and network behavior. Confirm that the actual output resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate and keyframe interval match the intended settings.

Start with an unlisted or private test stream where appropriate, review the Live Control Room preview and stream health, and verify playback from the watch page and relevant devices.

Monitor the local application, GStreamer bus and archive during the broadcast. A clean preview at startup does not prove that playlist advancement or long-running recovery will work unattended.

Troubleshoot common failures

You cannot start the encoder stream: check channel verification, live-stream eligibility and first-time activation. Enabling encoder streaming may take up to 24 hours.

GStreamer cannot find or decode a file: confirm the URI is absolute and points to an accessible file, then check the installed demuxer and decoder plugins and inspect the bus error.

The playlist stops after one video: confirm that the application handles

The sink rejects the YouTube address or fails to connect: verify the exact ingest URL and key in Live Control Room, then confirm the installed sink supports the required RTMPS/TLS transport. A generic RTMP example does not prove secure-ingest compatibility.

The preview is unstable or drops frames: check stream health, sustained upload capacity and encoder settings. Reduce the output bitrate or resolution if the connection cannot sustain the chosen settings, and retain the recommended bandwidth headroom.

The broadcast is interrupted after a copyright match: review the recording’s video and audio rights and contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting where applicable. Do not assume a license has automatically allowlisted the channel.
Plan for archiving and unattended operation
YouTube’s encoder guide says completed streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If an archive matters, plan the broadcast length accordingly and check that the finished recording is available. For an unattended GStreamer setup, include process supervision, useful logs, bus-error handling and a tested restart strategy; the documentation cited here does not guarantee continuous playback or automatic recovery for a custom pipeline.
