If you need several people visible simultaneously—such as a gaming panel or a co-op discussion—you’ll need a more produced setup using an encoder and, for remote guests, a separate guest-production tool that supports your planned YouTube workflow.
Choose the setup that fits your stream

YouTube’s help pages do not specify a participant limit for third-party guest tools or endorse a particular service for bringing multiple remote people into one stream.
Check YouTube live-stream eligibility first
- Your channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- First-time live streaming can take up to 24 hours to become available, so enable it before the day of your event.
- YouTube says streamers must be at least 16 years old.
- YouTube’s live-stream guidance states a limit of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key. Plan within those limits if your production uses multiple streams or keys.

Invite one guest with Go live together
The native feature is the most direct choice when one guest at a time is enough. You can schedule the event on a computer, but the host begins the stream from a mobile phone. The guest also joins on a mobile device through the invitation link.

- Confirm live streaming is enabled. Verify the channel and allow for the initial activation period if this is your first live stream.
- Schedule the stream or start on mobile. To schedule, use Live Control Room on a computer; to begin immediately, start from the YouTube mobile app. The host must still go live from a phone.
- Turn on Go live together and prepare the stream details. Add the stream title and other metadata, then create the guest invitation link.
- Send the link to your guest. Have them open it on a mobile device, accept the invitation, and check their audio and video in the waiting room.
- Admit the guest and check the layout. The host sees the guest alongside their own feed. YouTube says the default orientation is vertical.
- Rotate guests if needed. Only one guest appears at a time; remove or rotate the current guest before bringing in another. Guest analytics are not available to the guest.
Follow YouTube’s Go live together instructions for the current mobile and scheduling flow, since app interfaces can change.
Plan guest conduct and channel responsibility
The host channel is responsible for the live content and for ensuring guests and content comply with YouTube’s Terms, Community Guidelines, copyright policy, and other applicable policies. Brief guests before the broadcast: agree on topics, language, handling of copyrighted game audio or music, and what happens if someone needs to be removed. Assign a moderator if the host needs to focus on the conversation or gameplay.

YouTube says pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll ads may appear on Go live together streams, and those ads are attributed to the host channel. The guest does not own the stream’s ad attribution. See YouTube’s Go live together policy and monetization details.
Use an encoder for a larger gaming panel or controlled layout
An encoder can combine gameplay, cameras, microphones, and other production inputs into the stream sent to YouTube. YouTube describes encoder streaming for sharing a screen or gameplay, using external audio and video hardware, and managing productions with a few cameras and microphones. Those inputs are supported options, not equipment requirements.

For remote co-hosts, the encoder is only the production path to YouTube: you still need a way to bring their audio and video into the production. Check that your chosen guest-production tool currently supports the number of remote participants you need and the YouTube output method you intend to use. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not establish a third-party guest limit.
- Choose the production inputs. Decide whether to capture the game, host camera, guest feeds, microphones, and any shared content. Select software or a standalone hardware encoder appropriate to that setup.
- Build and rehearse the scene. Confirm that every camera and microphone is connected and that the guest layout is readable alongside gameplay. Check audio levels and avoid letting game sound overwhelm speech.
- Connect the encoder to YouTube. In Live Control Room, set up the stream and use the stream key and server details provided for the encoder workflow. Keep the stream key private; anyone who has it may be able to send video to your broadcast.
- Check bandwidth and preview. The total outgoing bitrate must fit your available upload capacity. YouTube recommends keeping 20% bandwidth headroom above the stream’s bitrate. Inspect the Live Control Room preview before the event.
- Start early enough to catch problems. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before the event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled stream.
- Go live only after the picture and sound are right. Confirm the YouTube preview, guest audio, game capture, and stream status, then begin the event.

Network and rehearsal checklist
- Test the same network, cameras, microphones, game capture, and guest path you will use during the actual stream.
- Compare the production’s total stream bitrate with the available upload bandwidth and retain YouTube’s recommended 20% margin.
- Preview the stream in Live Control Room before going live; a local preview alone does not confirm what YouTube is receiving.
- For an encoder event, allow at least two hours for setup and start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event.
- Agree who admits or removes guests and who watches chat and policy issues while the host is presenting.
Troubleshoot common multiple-host problems
The guest invitation does not work
Check that the guest is opening the invitation on a mobile device and that the host has started the Go live together flow. If the feature is unavailable, confirm the channel is eligible for live streaming and that initial activation has completed.
The guest cannot be seen alongside another guest
That is the native feature’s one-guest-at-a-time limit. Rotate guests, or switch to a production workflow that can arrange multiple feeds together. Do not assume an encoder itself supplies remote guest calls.

The stream drops frames or the encoder preview is unstable
Check whether total outgoing bitrate exceeds the connection’s available upload bandwidth. Reduce the production load or bitrate as appropriate and preserve YouTube’s 20% upload headroom recommendation; then test again and inspect the Live Control Room preview.
The event is not enabled when you are ready
For a first stream, activation may take up to 24 hours. Verify the channel and check for restrictions in the previous 90 days ahead of the event rather than waiting until showtime.
A guest causes a policy or copyright issue
The host channel remains responsible. Remove or mute the guest as appropriate, and make sure future guests understand the content and copyright expectations before they join.
