How to Stream Recorded Physics Lessons Around the Clock on YouTube

A practical guide to looping recorded physics lessons into a YouTube Live feed, with encoder setup, stream settings, reliability checks and replay planning.

You can keep recorded physics lessons playing as a YouTube live feed by sending them through an encoder or playout workflow to YouTube Live. YouTube accepts encoder-based broadcasts and documents a 24/7 live-feed model, but the lesson loop itself must be configured in your chosen playback setup; it is not a YouTube Studio playlist feature established by the guidance cited here.

How a 24/7 YouTube lesson stream works

YouTube distinguishes the viewer-facing live event, called a broadcast, from the audio-video feed sent to the platform, called a stream. A broadcast is a distinct video and is bound to a stream. YouTube’s API documentation describes reusing a stream for recurring events and gives a 24/7 feed as an example, but that does not mean YouTube automatically rotates a playlist of lessons for you. [Google for Developers: YouTube Live Streaming API]

For recorded physics lessons, your playback or playout system supplies the lessons in sequence and repeats them; the encoder sends that output to YouTube Live. Choose and test a workflow that can loop the recordings as needed. The official guidance cited here does not establish a specific playlist-looping application or configuration.

What you need before starting

  • A live-enabled channel: YouTube says channels must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Initial enablement can take up to 24 hours, so check the channel’s current status in YouTube Studio before launch. [YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming]
  • A playback and encoding setup: YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders. Dedicated hardware is optional; choose based on your operating system, automation needs, production complexity and recovery requirements. YouTube’s verified-products list is a starting point, not an endorsement. [YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions]
  • Recorded lessons you have the right to use: Check that you control or have permission for the lesson video, diagrams, music, clips and other included material. A physics lesson can still contain third-party content subject to copyright. The cited technical guidance does not establish whether a particular channel or video qualifies for monetization.
  • Stable upload capacity: Leave bandwidth headroom for the outgoing stream and account for other traffic on the network. YouTube recommends 20% upload headroom; shared use can reduce the bandwidth available to the encoder. [YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your live stream]

Set up the recorded lesson feed

  1. Enable live streaming and confirm eligibility. In YouTube Studio, check whether live streaming is available for the channel and resolve any restriction before building the schedule. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement, as YouTube’s instructions warn. [YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming]
  2. Choose the encoder and looping workflow. Select software or hardware that can play your recordings in the intended order and repeat them. Configure the playlist or playout loop in that system, not by assuming YouTube Live will create one. YouTube provides a directory of verified encoder products, but suitability for indefinite operation is not established by that list. [YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions]
  3. Create the live event in YouTube Studio. Set up the broadcast and use the server URL and stream key shown for the event to connect your encoder. YouTube describes a stream key as the encoder’s password/address: it identifies where YouTube should accept the feed. Keep it private; do not put it in public notes or screenshots. [YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions] [YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder]
  4. Set transport and encoding values. YouTube recommends RTMPS. Its encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate, a two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds, and supports frame rates up to 60 fps. Choose resolution and bitrate from YouTube’s current table for the intended output rather than treating a maximum as a target; your upload connection must sustain the selected bitrate. [YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your live stream] [YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions]
  5. Run a representative test. Test lesson footage with typical motion, voice and any embedded audio. Check the preview in Live Control Room and watch stream health. YouTube advises monitoring audio and video continuously and warns that network disruption can break the feed. [YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your live stream]
  6. Start the feed and verify the loop. Start playback and the encoder, then confirm that the event is receiving a signal and that lesson transitions and the repeat point behave as intended. Recheck the stream after any encoder, playlist or network change.

Choose an ingestion method and plan for latency

RTMPS is YouTube’s generally recommended transport for encoder delivery. YouTube also documents HLS ingestion, which sends video in segments and has higher latency than RTMP. For a passive lesson feed, RTMPS is the straightforward default unless your selected encoder or format calls for HLS. [YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your live stream] [YouTube Help: Use HLS ingestion to stream on YouTube]

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Keep the live feed and lesson replays separate

YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A continuous around-the-clock stream exceeds that duration, so do not rely on the automatic archive guidance to promise a complete replay of the whole feed. The guidance cited here does not establish a dependable alternative archive workflow for a longer stream. Decide separately how to preserve and publish individual lessons if students need replay access. [YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions]

Troubleshoot common problems

  • Live streaming is unavailable: Check channel verification, any live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days, and whether initial enablement is still processing. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours. [YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming]
  • The event receives no encoder feed: Confirm that the encoder has the correct server URL and current stream key for the event. Treat the key as a credential and update the encoder if you replace it. [YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder]
  • The feed stutters or disconnects: Check stream health and available upload bandwidth. Reduce competing network traffic or adjust the output to a bitrate your connection can sustain; preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. [YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your live stream]
  • The picture or audio is inconsistent: Test representative lesson segments, verify the encoder’s resolution, bitrate, frame rate and keyframe settings against YouTube’s current recommendations, and watch the preview during transitions. [YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions]
  • The lesson sequence stops or fails to repeat: Check the playback system’s playlist order and loop setting. YouTube’s broadcast/stream model accepts the feed; it does not verify that the chosen encoder workflow is configured to repeat lessons. [Google for Developers: YouTube Live Streaming API]
