1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo stream a recorded Sunday sermon continuously on YouTube from a Windows 11 PC, load the video into an OBS Studio Media Source, enable Loop, connect OBS to a YouTube Live stream with its stream key, and keep the PC awake while OBS sends the broadcast. Looping repeats the recording; it does not guarantee an uninterrupted internet connection, a continuously available stream, or an archived replay. Test the full setup before the service, monitor it while live, and plan separately for recordings longer than 12 hours.
Before you begin: confirm YouTube Live access
Make sure the channel is eligible to stream before the service day. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Allow time for live streaming to become available; do not leave first-time setup until Sunday morning. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips and encoder setup guidance.
You will also need the sermon recording stored on the PC, OBS Studio, a reliable internet connection with enough sustained upload capacity, and access to YouTube Studio. OBS supports Windows 11, but meeting its minimum system requirements does not guarantee that a particular PC can encode and stream successfully; the load depends on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. OBS system requirements.
Set up a YouTube Live stream and protect its key
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one for the service. Choose the encoder workflow so YouTube provides the server or stream URL and stream key. The precise controls shown can depend on the stream setup you create.
- Copy the connection details into OBS later. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat the key as a password: do not put it on screen, share it publicly, or include it in a recording. YouTube documents stream settings at Manage live stream settings.
- If the key may have been exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio. Then replace the old key in OBS before going live.
Keep the Live Control Room open for the preview and stream-health information once OBS connects. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain the connection flow.

Loop one sermon video in OBS
- In OBS, create or select the scene you want to use for the broadcast.
- In the Sources area, add a Media Source. Give it a recognizable name, then choose the local sermon file.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties, then confirm the source. The video should appear in the OBS preview; check that it is framed as intended.
- Play the source and watch the OBS audio mixer meters. Confirm that the sermon’s audio track is present and that the picture and sound are the correct recording.
OBS Media Source is available on Windows and supports common formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM, along with common audio formats. If the recording does not play, check that the file opens locally and that its format is supported. See OBS Media Sources.
When you need a playlist rather than one file
Use OBS’s VLC Video source for a playlist, then enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed; OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. A playlist is useful for rotating several recordings, but verify the order and transitions in a test before using it for a service. OBS Media Sources.

Connect OBS to YouTube and check the preview
- In OBS, select YouTube as the streaming service if it is available in the service list. Otherwise, enter the server or stream URL from YouTube in the server field and paste the current stream key into the stream-key field.
- Start streaming from OBS. Watch YouTube Live Control Room until it receives the signal and displays the video and audio preview.
- Before taking the stream live for viewers, verify that the correct sermon is playing, the image is visible, and sound is reaching YouTube. Confirm the selected stream and audience visibility settings in YouTube Studio.
- Monitor stream health during the broadcast. If you are also recording locally, check that the local recording is being created and its file is growing.
For H.264, YouTube recommends 5 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps and 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. These are YouTube’s recommended encoder bitrates, not a guarantee that a particular connection can sustain them. Check your upload capacity under realistic conditions and leave headroom rather than setting the bitrate at the edge of what the connection can provide. An audio-led sermon may not need higher resolution; choose a resolution that suits the source recording and viewers’ needs. YouTube encoder settings.
YouTube recommends testing with a setup that resembles the actual stream, checking the preview, and monitoring stream quality. Run a private or unlisted test as appropriate, and test from an audience device or browser as well as the PC sending the stream. A successful OBS preview alone does not confirm that viewers can receive the broadcast cleanly. YouTube live-streaming tips.

Keep Windows 11 awake for the broadcast
- Open Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts.
- Set the plugged-in sleep timeout long enough to cover the planned stream. The display can turn off while the PC stays awake; display timeout and sleep are separate settings.
- If using a laptop, review what happens when the lid is closed and when the power button is pressed. Keep the device connected to power and ensure the chosen lid and power-button actions will not interrupt the broadcast.
Microsoft documents the Windows 11 power controls, but does not prescribe a stream-specific timeout. OBS does not prevent every condition that could put a PC to sleep. Microsoft’s Windows 11 power settings guidance.
Plan the stream length, archive, and viewer rewind
For a service or other stream that matters as a replay, arrange a local recording as a backup and decide in advance how long the broadcast needs to run. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is not a guarantee that every shorter stream will be available as an archive. See YouTube’s live archive guidance.

YouTube’s Enable DVR setting lets viewers pause and rewind during a live stream. Rewind may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours; turning DVR off removes the ability to seek back during the live broadcast. A post-stream recording, if available, is a separate matter. Review YouTube’s DVR guidance and do not rely on a long continuous stream as the only copy of the sermon.
If internal storage is limited, an external SSD for local stream recordings can provide a separate destination for the backup. It is optional and does not improve the internet connection or guarantee stream uptime.

End the broadcast deliberately
- When the planned broadcast is over, use the end-stream control in YouTube Live Control Room and follow the flow shown there.
- Stop sending from OBS as appropriate to that flow. Confirm that YouTube has ended the live broadcast rather than assuming that stopping the media source alone ends it.
- Check whether the local recording was saved and whether a YouTube archive is available before deleting or moving the source file.
Troubleshoot common problems
- YouTube shows no incoming signal: Confirm OBS is actively streaming, check the selected YouTube service or server URL, verify the current stream key, and check the internet connection. If the key may be compromised, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS. YouTube stream settings.
- The sermon plays once and stops: Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a playlist, use VLC Video and check Loop Playlist; confirm VLC is installed and matches OBS’s 32- or 64-bit architecture. OBS Media Sources.
- The preview has no sound: Verify that the selected recording contains an audio track, play it in OBS, and check whether the audio mixer meters move. Then confirm audio is present in YouTube’s preview during a test.
- The PC stops broadcasting after a while: Recheck the plugged-in sleep timeout and laptop lid or power-button behavior. Also verify the PC remains powered and connected; changing the display timeout alone does not keep a sleeping PC awake. Windows 11 power settings.
- The stream becomes unstable or viewers report interruptions: Check YouTube’s stream-health feedback, sustained upload capacity, and whether the chosen bitrate is supportable with headroom. Retest with the same resolution, frame rate, and scene used for the service. A bitrate recommendation is not a network guarantee. YouTube encoder settings and live-streaming tips.
- The replay is missing or viewers could not rewind: Check the stream duration and DVR setting. Streams over 12 hours may not be captured, and rewind may be limited or unavailable beyond that duration. Use a local recording when preserving the full sermon matters. Archive guidance and DVR guidance.
