Use BoxCast’s built-in YouTube integration for the simplest setup: enable YouTube Live ahead of time, link your YouTube account in BoxCast, then select YouTube as a destination when scheduling a broadcast. Use a manual RTMP destination only when you need to enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key yourself.
Before you schedule: activate YouTube Live
Make sure the YouTube account you plan to use is enabled for live streaming before event day. BoxCast says activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this step until the broadcast is about to start. See BoxCast’s YouTube integration instructions for its activation guidance.
How to connect YouTube to BoxCast and schedule a broadcast
- In the BoxCast Dashboard, open Settings > Integrations, add YouTube, choose the Google account you want to use, and grant BoxCast permission.
- Create a broadcast in BoxCast and choose the appropriate video source. BoxCast lists options including Spark, the Broadcaster App, Producer, and compatible RTMP or SRT encoders; the source is what supplies video to BoxCast.
- Under Destinations, select YouTube. Choose the linked account and the desired privacy setting, then complete the BoxCast scheduling flow.
- For a test, choose Unlisted or Private so the event is not publicly visible. Confirm the event and picture in YouTube before relying on the workflow for a public broadcast.
- Add or change the thumbnail on the YouTube event itself. A thumbnail set on the BoxCast scheduled broadcast does not carry over to social destinations.
In this native workflow, BoxCast says the YouTube stream appears when the BoxCast broadcast goes live. Its support page says YouTube Live simulcasting is available on any BoxCast plan; check your current dashboard or BoxCast support if your account’s plan terms or interface differ. For the documented sequence, see BoxCast’s integration guide and Get Started with BoxCast.
Alternative: send BoxCast to YouTube through RTMP
Choose manual RTMP when you specifically need a reusable RTMP destination or the native YouTube integration is not suitable. YouTube still needs a scheduled event for each broadcast, even though you can save and reuse the RTMP destination in BoxCast.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- In YouTube Studio, schedule an event as a stream using streaming software. Enter the event title, description, visibility, and other YouTube details.
- Enable YouTube’s Auto-Start and Auto-Stop settings as described in BoxCast’s YouTube RTMP guide. Copy the YouTube Stream URL and Stream Key.
- In BoxCast, open Settings > Integrations > Add Integration and choose an RTMP destination. Paste YouTube’s Stream URL into Server URL and the Stream Key into Stream Key. Do not use authentication; leave Max Resolution at None (use highest), then save.
- When scheduling the BoxCast broadcast, select the saved integration under RTMP Destinations.
- Schedule a YouTube event for every broadcast. The saved destination can be reused in BoxCast, but YouTube must be told when to expect each stream.
For a generic RTMP destination, BoxCast does not pass the BoxCast broadcast name and description through to the destination platform. Enter that metadata in YouTube. BoxCast’s RTMP instructions do not establish a specific end-to-end bitrate, resolution, or frame-rate requirement, so do not treat the “use highest” setting as a guaranteed output specification. See the YouTube-specific steps and BoxCast’s general RTMP destination guide.
Built-in YouTube integration or RTMP?
| Consideration | Built-in YouTube integration | Reusable RTMP destination |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Link the YouTube account in BoxCast, then select it while scheduling. | Copy YouTube’s Stream URL and Stream Key into a BoxCast RTMP integration. |
| YouTube event scheduling | BoxCast’s native workflow handles the YouTube destination as part of broadcast scheduling. | Schedule a YouTube event for each broadcast. |
| Metadata | Designed for YouTube simulcasting through the linked account. | BoxCast broadcast name and description are not passed through; enter them in YouTube. |
| Best fit | The default choice for a regular BoxCast-to-YouTube broadcast. | A specific need for manually configured RTMP output. |
Do you need to buy a BoxCaster?
No. A new BoxCaster is not required for the YouTube destination workflow: BoxCast lists other ways to provide a source, including Spark, the Broadcaster App, Producer, and RTMP- or SRT-compatible encoders. BoxCast says BoxCaster and BoxCaster Pro remain supported, but sales have been discontinued. Availability of any existing unit is not established by that statement. Details are in BoxCast’s source and encoder documentation.

If your BoxCast stream is not appearing on YouTube
- BoxCast cannot post to YouTube: confirm the account has YouTube’s live-streaming features enabled. If you just enabled them, allow for the activation period BoxCast describes.
- Find the associated YouTube event: open the broadcast details in BoxCast, select the YouTube Live tab, and use the link to inspect it in YouTube Live Control Room.
- The linked destination appears stuck: edit the BoxCast event, disable the YouTube integration and save, then edit it again and relink the integration.
- Google account linking fails: remove the BoxCast application from the Google account’s permissions, then try linking the account again.
- RTMP does not connect: check that the Stream URL and Stream Key were copied correctly, that the destination integration is selected on the BoxCast broadcast, and that the corresponding YouTube event has been scheduled.
These recovery steps follow BoxCast’s integration troubleshooting guidance and its RTMP setup guidance.
