Short answer: IRL Pro’s documented workflow sends a live phone feed to a streaming destination over RTMP or SRT; the available documentation does not establish that the app can play a playlist of prerecorded videos. YouTube supports vertical live viewing and lets creators configure a vertical layout in Live Control Room, but whether IRL Pro can produce a native 9:16 output depends on the device and app version. Check that before planning a camera-based vertical broadcast.
If by “playlist” you mean prerecorded clips broadcast in sequence, this guide cannot promise an IRL Pro setup: the necessary playlist-playback workflow is not documented. If you mean a live phone camera feed, follow the setup below and test the vertical result before going public.
First, decide which kind of stream you mean
- Live camera feed: Your phone captures a live scene and IRL Pro sends it to YouTube or an ingest service. The documented IRL Pro setup covers this kind of feed.
- Prerecorded video playlist: A sequence of existing clips plays as a live program. The consulted IRL Pro instructions do not document importing or looping such a playlist, so do not assume the app can do it.
These are different production workflows. A live phone feed needs a working camera-to-encoder connection; prerecorded playout needs a player or playout system that can feed an encoder. The steps below explain the documented live-feed path, not a verified prerecorded-playlist solution.
Set up a vertical live phone feed
1. Check which YouTube route you will use
YouTube’s mobile-app live-stream route has its own eligibility rules: YouTube Help lists a verified channel, at least 50 subscribers, no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and Android 8.0 or newer. First-time mobile live-streaming activation may take up to 24 hours. These mobile-route requirements should not be treated as a complete list of requirements for every encoder workflow. For an encoder workflow, create or schedule the stream in YouTube Studio, then use the Live server URL and stream key YouTube provides. Enter them in the encoder or the configured ingest service. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who gets it may be able to broadcast to your channel. YouTube’s instructions are at Create a live stream with an encoder.
2. Configure vertical viewing before the broadcast
YouTube Live Control Room streams default to horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 together. In the scheduled stream’s vertical preview, creators can edit the vertical layout using centre crop, fit to phone width, or stacked, and adjust zoom and position. YouTube says the vertical format cannot be added after the stream has started. Configure and check the layout before going live. See YouTube’s guidance on vertical live streams.
This is a YouTube layout capability; it does not prove that IRL Pro itself can create a native portrait feed on your particular phone. A Google Play review dated August 16, 2026 reports difficulty finding portrait mode, but that is one user’s report—not authoritative confirmation that portrait output is unavailable. Test your device and installed app version rather than relying on an assumption.

3. If you use Enhanced IRL, match its ingest settings
Enhanced IRL is a third-party stream-key service, not the same thing as YouTube’s broadcast destination. Its guide describes this setup for IRL Pro:

- In IRL Pro, select the same protocol and paste that URL.
- Set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate within the cap for your Enhanced IRL key or plan.
- Start broadcasting and confirm that the service receives a live signal.
Keep the intermediary’s ingest URL distinct from YouTube’s server URL and stream key. The Enhanced IRL guide says IRL Pro supports RTMP and SRT over one connection, not bonding. Its caps are specific to its own plans, not universal YouTube limits: Stream Key Lite and Stream Key are listed at 9,000 kbps; OBS Basic and Standard at 6,000 kbps; and OBS Pro at 10,000 kbps. The guide suggests starting at half the applicable cap while moving and increasing only if bitrate remains stable on a test route. 4. Test privately before making the event public
Schedule an unlisted test, preview it on a phone, and confirm the image is framed as intended and the audio is usable. YouTube recommends testing mobile audio and video with an unlisted live stream and checking network strength. For a steadier shot, YouTube suggests accessories such as a tripod or selfie stick; an external microphone may help where the phone’s built-in mic is not suitable. What viewers see in YouTube’s vertical and dual-format setup
YouTube says vertical live streams open in a full-screen mobile viewing experience and may be discovered while viewers browse Shorts. With Live Control Room’s dual-format setup, subscribers receive one go-live notification and a shared stream URL; mobile viewers in the Shorts feed see the vertical version, while other viewers see horizontal. YouTube says both formats share the same live chat. Combined metrics are available during and after the stream; vertical-only metrics become available 24 hours later. These are YouTube platform behaviors, not features supplied by IRL Pro. Details are in YouTube’s vertical live-stream guidance.
Troubleshoot common setup problems
IRL Pro does not show a portrait option
Do not assume every phone and app version exposes the same controls. Test the installed version on the target device, then verify the actual preview in YouTube. If the feed cannot produce the framing you need, YouTube’s vertical layout controls may help with a supported Live Control Room stream, but they do not confirm that IRL Pro can generate native 9:16 output.
The ingest service does not receive the stream
Check that IRL Pro uses the same protocol—RTMP or SRT—as the ingest URL, and that the complete current URL was pasted. Enhanced IRL says changing a key’s region or protocol, or rotating it, invalidates the old URL. Copy the replacement URL and update the app.

The stream becomes unstable while you are moving
Enhanced IRL recommends SRT rather than RTMP for street-level broadcasting over a single SIM, and suggests lowering bitrate if SRT remains unstable. These are that guide publisher’s recommendations, not a guarantee: results vary with the route and carrier. Use an unlisted test on the route you expect to stream before relying on it for an event.
The video does not behave like a playlist
IRL Pro’s documented setup is a live feed sent over RTMP or SRT; playlist import or looping is not established. Do not troubleshoot this as if a documented playlist control is merely hidden. A prerecorded program needs a separately verified playout and encoder workflow.

Only broadcast video and audio you have the rights to use. A playlist of prerecorded clips does not avoid copyright obligations just because it is sent as a live stream. Check permissions for every clip, song, and other included material, and review YouTube’s current live-streaming rules before scheduling. An unlisted test helps verify framing and sound, but it does not establish that you have rights to the content or guarantee that a public stream will be unrestricted.
