Equip an LMG, take a position overlooking a route enemies repeatedly cross, and fire close to opponents without directly hitting them. Watch for the “Enemy Suppression” notification and check the challenge counter. This method comes from GameSpot’s guide; its reported five-meter threshold and shot-count behavior are not confirmed by EA as current rules, and EA said suppression was under evaluation on July 30, 2026.
Set up for repeated opportunities
- Equip an LMG. EA identifies the Light Machine Gun as Support’s signature weapon. In Closed Weapon experiences, choose Support; Open Weapon experiences allow broader weapon access, so check the playlist’s current rules.
- Choose a position with a clear view of enemy traffic. GameSpot recommends defending in Breakthrough and watching a route enemies are likely to cross. The practical aim is to get repeated chances to fire near opponents.
- Fire close to enemies, not directly at them. GameSpot reports that a shot passing within five meters can count toward suppression and that direct hits do not count as suppressed shots for this challenge. Treat those details as reported behavior, not an EA-confirmed specification.
- Check the feedback and challenge progress. Look for the “Enemy Suppression” notification after firing, then check whether the challenge counter advances. If it does not, verify the challenge wording and current patch state.
GameSpot also suggests using a large magazine, a zoomed optic, and optionally FMJ for shooting through surfaces. These are situational guide suggestions, not requirements; use only options available for your weapon and setup.
Pick an LMG for its stated role, not an assumed challenge advantage
EA’s weapon guide describes LMGs as weapons for sustained suppressive fire. Its descriptions give useful differences between some options, but do not compare challenge completion rates or establish a best LMG for this task.
| LMG | Availability stated by EA | EA’s described role or trait |
|---|---|---|
| L110 | Default-unlocked | All-purpose Squad Automatic Weapon |
| M/60 | Career Rank 20 | General-purpose machine gun with a slow, steady rate of fire; described as capable of keeping enemies suppressed |
| M123K | Career Rank 38 | Mobile fire support with a high rate of fire and close-quarters strength |
| KTS100 MK8 | Assignment BULLET STORM 1 | Low recoil, steady RPM, and accurate suppressive fire |
| M250 | Career Rank 46 | Combines suppressive fire with ranged capability |
These availability and weapon descriptions are from EA’s weapon guide, updated for Season 4 and accessed October 8, 2026. Consider the traits EA actually lists—such as rate of fire, recoil, mobility, range, and capacity—rather than assuming one option advances the challenge faster.

What suppression feedback means—and what remains uncertain
GameSpot reports that suppression pauses health regeneration, may show small “woosh” icons near the center of the target’s screen, and gives the shooter an “Enemy Suppression” notification after a qualifying shot. Its guide also reports the five-meter proximity threshold and says direct hits do not count toward the challenge’s suppression tally. EA’s cited official materials describe the role of suppressive fire but do not specify that distance or the challenge’s per-shot counter logic.
That distinction matters because suppression behavior may change. In a July 30, 2026 community Q&A, EA said suppression was polarizing and under evaluation, and that any changes would be tested in BFLabs before reaching the main game. EA gave no timeline. If the notification or counter behaves differently, rely on the current in-game challenge and patch state rather than assuming the older guide’s mechanics still apply.

Why LMGs fit the task
EA describes Support’s expertise as “shifting battle lines through suppressive fire.” Its Support page also explains that deployable cover can serve as a portable mounting point for suppressive fire with an LMG or a bipod-equipped weapon. The official weapon guide calls LMGs weapons “built for laying down fully-automatic suppressing fire,” while its M/60 description specifically mentions keeping enemies suppressed with a slow, steady fire rate. Those descriptions explain the category’s intended role, but do not prove a particular LMG is best for this challenge.
