To switch the EA Account used with a PS5, first check which EA Account is linked to the PlayStation Network (PSN) account you play on. If it is the wrong one, EA’s process is to unlink that PSN account in EA Account settings, then launch the game and sign in with the EA Account you want. Unlinking can cut off access to progress and purchases, so try recovering the original account first if it holds content you want to keep.
Check which EA Account is linked to your PSN account
- Sign in to the EA Account you think is connected to the PSN account used on your PS5.
- Open Connected Accounts in EA Account settings. EA says linked PlayStation Network Online IDs appear on this page.
- Check that the listed PlayStation account is the same PSN profile you use on the PS5. If it is linked to the EA Account you want, leave the connection in place and launch the game using that PSN profile.
If you cannot access the EA Account you suspect is linked, start with EA’s account recovery guidance rather than unlinking an account you cannot identify.
Choose between recovering the old account and switching

Unlink the PSN account and sign in with the intended EA Account
- In EA Account settings, open Connected Accounts and select Unlink next to the PlayStation account.
- Read the warning shown for your account before proceeding. Complete any identity check EA presents.
- On your PS5, make sure the PSN profile you intend to pair is active, then open the EA game.
- Sign in with the EA Account you want to use. If prompted, enter the one-time verification code EA sends to that account’s email. EA says the connection should happen automatically when the same email address is used for both the EA Account and console account.
- Check the in-game profile and progress to confirm you are using the expected account.
EA’s current linking guidance says you can switch linked accounts up to three times in a rolling year. This is a limit on switches, not a promise that every account can be relinked; follow the specific warning and eligibility message shown in your EA settings.
Understand what unlinking can affect
EA warns that unlinking can permanently remove access to progress, downloadable content and expansions, memberships or subscriptions, rewards, and in-game purchases. Items, points, and rewards remain on the EA Account to which the platform was first linked; they do not transfer to a different EA Account. See EA’s unlinking guidance before confirming.

EA’s help pages have used different descriptions of relinking restrictions. Its current general linking guidance gives the three-switches-in-a-rolling-year limit, while other account-specific restrictions may appear in the unlink warning. Treat the message shown for your account as decisive rather than assuming an older six-month rule applies universally.

If you cannot unlink or your progress is missing
- The Unlink option is grayed out: EA says the account is not eligible to relink. Do not keep trying to force the change; use EA account recovery or contact EA Help.
- You cannot access the old EA email or account: Recover the original EA Account first. If it owns your progress or purchases, reconnecting the PSN account to that account may restore access; it will not transfer the content to another EA Account.
- The account is disabled, banned, or suspended: EA says these accounts cannot unlink a platform through the normal self-service process. Contact EA Help for account-specific support.
- You see a different profile or no expected progress: Confirm the PSN profile active on PS5 and the EA Account linked under Connected Accounts. EA’s guidance for lost progress is to check the original linked account; a different EA Account does not inherit its content.
- You use a PlayStation sub-account: EA says child or other limited sub-accounts that share subscriptions cannot connect to EA Accounts to play online.
