The quickest way to teleport in 7 Days to Die is to open the command console and enter tp followed by your destination coordinates. For example, tp -200 77 300 moves your local player to the specified west/east, height, and north/south coordinates. Use tele or teleportplayer when moving another player, tp offset for a relative move, and dm followed by Set position if you prefer a debug-menu control.

Before you teleport
Console teleportation is an administrative or debug action, not a normal survival mechanic. It can bypass travel, terrain, danger, and other consequences that give a world its progression. Debug Mode also includes features that can permanently affect a world. Make a backup or at least save before experimenting, especially on a long-running single-player world or a shared server.
- Confirm that you are allowed to use commands. A dedicated server may require administrator privileges or a permission level that a normal player does not have.
- Check your destination coordinates, including the sign on each horizontal value.
- Keep a safe return point in mind. Teleporting into terrain, a structure, a void-like area, or an unsafe height can leave you stuck or exposed.
- If a command is rejected, use the console’s built-in help rather than repeatedly guessing syntax.
Open the command console
On US and EU keyboard layouts, the Command Console reference lists F1 as the console key. Other keyboard layouts can use a different key. Some versions and platforms expose console access through their own control or input settings, so check the controls if F1 does nothing.

- Load the world or connect to the server where you intend to teleport.
- Press the console key. On a US or EU keyboard this is usually
F1. - Click or otherwise focus the command line if necessary.
- Type the command exactly, including spaces and negative signs.
- Press Enter, then watch for a confirmation, movement, or an error message.
Console commands commonly use a short alias and a longer name. The local-player teleport shortcut is tp; the full form is teleport. The player-to-player shortcut is tele; the full form is teleportplayer.
Teleport yourself to absolute coordinates
Full syntax
Use the local-player command in this form:
teleport <E / W> [y] <N / S>The shorter equivalent is:
tp <E / W> [y] <N / S>The two horizontal values identify east/west and north/south position. The optional middle value is the vertical coordinate, commonly called y. A three-value command therefore specifies horizontal position plus height; a two-value ground-spawn form can omit the height.
Coordinate signs
Use signed numbers for direction. South and west are negative; north and east are positive. In a command such as tp -200 77 300, the first value is a westward coordinate because it is negative, the height is 77, and the final value is a positive northward coordinate.
Worked example
tp -200 77 300Enter the command in the console and press Enter. If your build accepts the syntax, your local player is moved to the requested coordinate. Replace all three values with the location you actually need; do not copy the example as a universal destination.
Ground-spawn form
The command table also lists a two-value form:
tp -200 300This form requests a ground-level spawn at the supplied horizontal coordinates. If your syntax accepts an explicit vertical field, use y = -1 to request ground spawning:

tp -200 -1 300The newer command reference repeats the -1 ground-spawn rule. Because command parsers vary between releases and server implementations, verify the accepted form with help tp before relying on it.

An absolute teleport uses a destination on the world map. A relative teleport applies an increment to where you are standing now:
tp offset <inc E/W> <inc y> <inc N/S>The documented example is:
tp offset 3 1 0The reference describes that example as moving three metres north and one metre upward relative to the current position. The written argument labels identify the first number as the east/west increment and the last as the north/south increment, so axis interpretation can depend on the version’s command implementation. If direction matters, test with a small value in a disposable save or consult help tp in your own build.
When an offset is useful
- Move a few metres out of a doorway, vehicle, or obstructed space without calculating world coordinates.
- Adjust height slightly when building or inspecting an area.
- Make a controlled short move while keeping your current map location.
Offset movement does not choose a new destination by itself. It modifies your current position, so record where you are before running a large increment.

Move a named player or ID to coordinates
Use the player-targeting command when you want to move someone other than the local player:

teleportplayer <name / player id / steam id> <E / W> <y> <N / S>The shortcut is:
tele <name / player id / steam id> <E / W> <y> <N / S>For example:
tele 171 -200 77 300Here, 171 identifies the player to move, while the remaining values specify the destination. Substitute the actual player name, player ID, or Steam ID accepted by your server. Names containing spaces or characters that the parser treats specially may need the exact format shown by the server’s help output.
Bring a friend to your location
A second form uses one player as the destination:
tele <friend> <self>This means “move the friend to me.” Replace <friend> with the target player’s name or ID and leave <self> as the self destination token shown by your version’s command help. The command moves the first player to the location of the second; it does not swap the two players.
Find a usable player ID
Run:
lpilpi lists player IDs. Copy the ID for the person you want to move, then insert it into the teleportplayer or tele command. IDs are often safer than names when several players have similar names or when punctuation causes name matching to fail.
Use Debug Mode instead of typing coordinates
If you prefer a menu, enable Debug Mode with:
dmThe Debug Mode reference describes Set position as a control that teleports to X and Z coordinates while always spawning on the ground. This is useful when you know the map position but do not want to type the complete console syntax.
- Open the console and enter
dm. - Open the Debug Mode interface that your version provides.
- Choose Set position.
- Enter the desired X and Z coordinates.
- Apply the position and verify where the player appears.
Set position is a ground-spawn tool, not a replacement for a precise three-dimensional tp command. Use the console form when you need to control the vertical value or move another player. Disable or leave Debug Mode according to your version’s controls when finished, and remember that advanced debug features can permanently change a world.

Which teleport method should you use?

Coordinate and command examples
Self-teleport with a height
tp 450 70 -120This requests positive east/west and negative north/south values with a vertical coordinate of 70. The signs, not the order of the words in your description, determine direction.
Self-teleport using the long command
teleport -800 64 950The long form performs the same local-player role as tp. Use whichever spelling your command help confirms.
Ground request with an explicit vertical flag
tp 450 -1 -120-1 requests ground spawning in versions that implement that rule. If the console rejects it, try the two-coordinate ground form shown by help tp.
Relative adjustment
tp offset 3 1 0This is the documented offset example. Because the reference’s prose description and argument labels can be read differently across versions, use a small test increment before making a large move.
Move a listed player
lpiAfter identifying the desired player ID, use it in a command such as:

Troubleshoot a teleport that fails
The console does not open
- Try F1 on a US or EU keyboard.
- Check the platform’s control settings for the console binding.
- Confirm that the game build or server has console access enabled.
- On a different keyboard layout, test the alternate key shown in that layout’s controls rather than assuming F1 is universal.
The command is unknown
Run help tp or help tele. Command lists differ between releases, dedicated-server implementations, and mods. The principal command list was originally taken from Alpha 15, while a corroborating reference labels its table for later versions; neither should be treated as a guarantee that every current build accepts every form unchanged.

The game says you lack permission
Ask the host or server administrator to grant the required command privilege. A client cannot normally override a server’s permission system by changing the spelling of the command. On a private world, verify that you are using the host account or the administrative controls provided by that version.
You appear at the wrong place
- Check whether you reversed east/west or north/south.
- Remember that west and south are negative.
- Confirm that you did not omit the height when your version expects three values.
- Run the command again only after checking the sign and order of every value.
You spawn inside terrain or at an unsafe height
Use the ground-spawn form or set y = -1 where supported. If you supplied a custom height, choose a value appropriate for the destination and leave room for the player capsule. A ground request is safer than guessing a vertical coordinate, but it still does not make an unverified location safe.
The player-target command moves nobody
- Run
lpiand use the listed ID instead of a name. - Check that the target is currently connected and that you have permission to move players.
- Use the exact argument order: target first, then destination coordinates, or target followed by the destination player in the two-player form.
- Run
help teleto see whether your build uses a different token for “self.”
The Debug Mode menu is missing
Enter dm in the console, then reopen or refresh the relevant interface. If the command is unavailable, use the direct tp form instead. Set position is also limited to X and Z with ground spawning, so it will not provide the full control of a coordinate command.
