Check the complete CFI model number printed on the console itself, then use that code in Sony’s support materials. Sony groups the PS5 Slim under CFI-2000; longer codes such as CFI-2016 identify a more specific regional model. The full code—not a detachable disc drive’s serial number—is the useful identifier for model-specific setup and support.
Find the console’s complete CFI model number

Look for the model label on the PS5 Slim console and copy the entire CFI code exactly, including every digit and any final suffix. Sony’s manuals and support index links to a tool titled “Find your PS5 console model number” for locating the label. Use that locator rather than relying on an assumed label position.

Enter or compare the complete code in Sony’s official support and manuals pages. Sony’s index identifies CFI-2000 as the Slim model group and lists more specific documentation, including CFI-2016. It also lists earlier-model documents such as CFI-1216, CFI-1116 and CFI-1016, so reading only “PS5” or “Slim” is not enough when following model-specific directions.

Keep the console code separate from the disc drive serial
On Slim configurations with a detachable disc drive, the drive has its own serial number. Sony says it is 17 alphanumeric characters long and is printed on the back of the drive, beside its connector. That serial identifies the drive, not the console revision. What the model code tells you—and what it does not
The official material establishes CFI-2000 as the Slim family and provides regional documentation with longer codes such as CFI-2016. It does not provide a complete mapping of every regional suffix or manufacturing subrevision to internal component changes. Do not infer changes to the fan, motherboard, chip, power draw or heatsink from a code alone; the cited materials do not establish those comparisons.

Stand setup
Check Sony’s instructions for the exact model group before attaching a vertical stand. Sony’s vertical-stand instructions distinguish CFI-2000/7000 from CFI-1000, and say that stand installation depends on which PS5 console you have.

Detachable disc drive
Sony’s CFI-20XX safety guide says a console supplied without a disc drive can use a separately sold drive. Confirm that the full model code and configuration are supported in current local Sony materials before buying or installing one.
M.2 storage
Sony’s CFI-20XX safety guide specifies M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen4x4 storage, capacities from 250 GB to 4 TB, and sizes 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110. It excludes M.2 SATA, discusses the need for heat dissipation, and cautions that Sony cannot guarantee every drive meeting the listed specifications will work. Check the manual for your exact model before shopping or installation.
