There is therefore no reliable step-by-step tracking guide, list of confirmed map symbols, or set of keybinds to give. Treat any such details as unverified unless the developer publishes them.
What has CD PROJEKT RED confirmed about the game?
CD PROJEKT RED announced The Witcher IV on December 13, 2024, describing it as a single-player, open-world RPG starring Ciri and the first game in a new Witcher saga. Kovir is confirmed as a region for the game, but the official material cited here does not provide a complete usable map or a list of in-game points of interest. A confirmed setting is not the same as a confirmed map layout or set of exploration markers. CD PROJEKT RED’s Unreal Fest article discusses the region and the technology shown in its presentation.
Why the Unreal Engine 5 demo does not answer this
The presentation released in June 2025 was explicitly a technology demo, not gameplay. CD PROJEKT RED’s official demo page says: “Keep in mind this isn’t gameplay of The Witcher 4 itself, but a deep dive into the technological groundwork.” As a result, it cannot verify how quests are tracked or how map locations appear in the finished game.

The developer’s discussion of FastGeo Streaming, Nanite Foliage, Mass System, ML Deformer, and Unreal Animation Framework concerns technologies featured in the demo. Those names do not establish quest-tracking or map features.

For now, check CD PROJEKT RED’s official game updates for actual gameplay or interface information. A useful guide will need to identify the platform and controls it covers and show how the finished game handles quest selection, map markers, filters, and objective changes. Until those details are published, a specific menu path, control, or companion tracker cannot be verified.
