Steam’s own wishlist notifications can help, but they have eligibility rules and are not guaranteed for every discount.
Check a game’s price history on SteamDB
- Open SteamDB’s price tracker and search for the game by name.
- Open the game’s page and select its prices tab. SteamDB says game, bundle and package pages include a price table and graph.
- Choose or inspect the entry for your own Steam currency. Compare the current price with previous sale prices and note whether the same price has appeared more than once.
A discount badge only tells you how far the listed price has fallen from its reference price; it does not tell you whether the current price is a historical low. The history graph provides that context. It can also show that a familiar sale price has returned, though past patterns do not guarantee what a publisher will charge in a future sale. SteamDB says publishers choose their discounts and it cannot know future sale prices or participating games.

Know what a “low” means
Always check the tracker’s history window before treating its displayed low as an all-time record. SteamDB says its price history goes back to 2012 and covers 41 Steam currencies. That provides a much longer comparison period than a tracker whose records began recently.
For example, SteamDashboard’s price-history tool says it has daily records across seven regions beginning July 2, 2026, and live price checks across 12 regions. Its displayed low is therefore a low captured within that recording window, not necessarily the game’s lowest price ever. These are separate services and datasets; check the country or currency and the history period shown by the tool you use.

Set up ongoing price tracking
SteamDB watchlist or wishlist import
For repeat checks, SteamDB lets account holders create a watchlist or manually import a Steam wishlist. SteamDB says it tracks price changes in real time and detects changes within minutes of Steam updating prices. This is useful when you want to monitor a set of games rather than revisit each page manually.
IsThereAnyDeal wishlist history
IsThereAnyDeal’s wishlist history page provides wishlist price-history and statistics views. The page establishes those history features; its alert settings and other terms are not established here, so check the service directly if you need a particular notification option.

Use Steam wishlist alerts as a backup
Valve’s Steamworks wishlist documentation describes discount notifications for qualifying discounts of at least 20% when the discount affects the lowest-priced package and lasts more than eight hours. Email delivery can take hours and may be delayed during high-volume periods. A verified email address, notification preferences, and cooldown periods—roughly one to two weeks, potentially longer during busy periods—can also affect whether and when an alert arrives. Treat wishlist alerts as a convenient backup, not as a guaranteed alert for every price change.
Compare prices without confusing regions
Use regional price information to understand the price available in your own country or currency. Do not change your Steam store region just to obtain another country’s lower price: SteamDashboard says doing so violates Steam’s Terms of Service. A foreign-region figure is not a reliable substitute for the price you can legitimately buy at in your own store.

What about Steam’s own price-history feature?
As of an April 16, 2026 report, PC Gamer described backend strings that might indicate a 30-day Steam price-history feature, but the report cautioned that strings in a database do not prove that the feature had launched in Steam’s live client. The report is not confirmation of a feature available to all users; check Steam itself for current availability.
