Reach First Star Member rank, then visit the Trading Post in Jubilife Village, in front of the Training Grounds. Choose local wireless for a nearby player or online for a remote player; both players enter the same eight-digit link code to connect. Online trades require internet access and an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Unlock trading and find the Trading Post
Continue the story until you become a First Star Member. Nintendo estimates this takes about two hours of gameplay, but the time varies by player. Once the Trading Post is available, go to the woman at the post in Jubilife Village, in front of the Training Grounds.
Trade with another player
- Choose a connection type. Select local wireless to trade with someone nearby, or an online connection to trade remotely.
- Set a link code together. Agree on an eight-digit code, then have both players enter the same code. Nintendo’s instructions specify: “Both players need to enter the same eight-digit link code.”
- Select the Pokémon. After the game connects you, each player can choose a Pokémon to trade.
Local wireless or online?

Nintendo’s support instructions cover Nintendo Switch, including Switch Lite and OLED, as well as Nintendo Switch 2. Online membership availability varies by country.
Is Pokémon HOME trading the same thing?
No. The Trading Post is the in-game way to trade directly with another player in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Pokémon HOME is a separate service: its mobile app offers Wonder Box, GTS, Room Trade, and Friend Trade. Pokémon Support says creating rooms requires a paid Premium Plan. Those HOME options are not menus in the Legends: Arceus Trading Post.
