The supported route is HeartGold or SoulSilver → a Generation V game → Poké Transporter → Pokémon Bank → Pokémon HOME. The final Bank-to-HOME transfer requires HOME Premium, and Pokémon Bank service is scheduled to end on February 26, 2027, at 03:00 UTC.
What you need before starting
- A copy of Pokémon HeartGold or Pokémon SoulSilver and a compatible Generation V destination game: Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2 or Pokémon White 2. Nintendo’s Pokémon Black Version manual specifically documents transfers from HeartGold and SoulSilver and says the National Pokédex is required for that transfer feature. Consult the destination game’s instructions for any additional unlock conditions.
- Two DS-family systems for the local transfer from the older game into the Generation V game.
- Poké Transporter and Pokémon Bank access. Nintendo lists the four Generation V games above as Poké Transporter source games in its compatibility guide.
- A Pokémon HOME account with a paid Premium Plan for the Bank-to-HOME transfer.
Poké Transporter and Bank are no longer downloadable from the Nintendo 3DS eShop. If they are not already installed and accessible, you may be unable to complete this route. The 2023 announcement that Bank would continue at no cost with no end date planned has since been superseded by the announced service shutdown.
Step 1: Move Pokémon into a Generation V game
Use the local transfer feature in your Generation V destination game to move eligible Pokémon from HeartGold or SoulSilver. This is a game-to-game transfer between two systems; the older cartridge does not connect directly to Bank or HOME. Nintendo’s cited manual documents the route into Pokémon Black and the National Pokédex prerequisite. For exact in-game instructions or conditions in another destination version, follow that game’s own documentation.
Step 2: Use Poké Transporter to move them into Bank
Poké Transporter transfers Pokémon from supported Generation V games into Pokémon Bank. Its supported sources are Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2; it does not transfer directly from a HeartGold or SoulSilver cartridge. Nintendo’s compatibility guide lists the supported games but does not detail the in-game box-selection workflow.
#1 Best Overall
- This renewed game will not come with the original case or manual; cartridge only. It has been cleaned, tested, and is in nice condition.
Step 3: Transfer from Bank to Pokémon HOME
Pokémon Support’s instructions, updated January 30, 2026, require HOME Premium for this transfer. Choose the method that matches your access to a 3DS and whether you are prepared to move the entire Bank collection.
With a 3DS
- Open Pokémon Bank on the 3DS and select the option to move Pokémon to Pokémon HOME.
- In HOME, generate a Moving Key and enter it in Bank. The key expires after three minutes, so generate it when you are ready to enter it.
- Select the Bank Pokémon to move and confirm the transfer.
Without a 3DS
- Make sure the Nintendo Network ID used for Bank is linked to the Nintendo Account used for HOME.
- Start the Bank transfer from Pokémon HOME and follow the prompts to confirm the linked account.
- Review the collection carefully before confirming: this method moves all Pokémon in Bank at once, rather than letting you select individual boxes.
For both methods, see Pokémon Support’s HOME connection instructions.
Rank #2
- This renewed game will not come with the original case or manual; cartridge only. It has been cleaned, tested, and is in nice condition.
Check the deadline and your Bank access
Pokémon’s official Bank service page says service ends February 26, 2027, at 03:00 UTC. Bank-to-HOME transfers will no longer be possible after that time. Complete the final transfer before the deadline if you want Pokémon still in Bank to reach HOME.
If your Bank pass has expired, that alone does not prove your boxes are empty. Pokémon Support explains how to open Bank and check for stored Pokémon in its expired-pass instructions. HOME Premium is still required for the move to HOME.

Know what changes after the transfer
A Bank-to-HOME transfer is one-way: Pokémon moved into HOME cannot be returned to Bank. Before moving them onward, check each Pokémon’s compatible-games display in HOME; a Pokémon’s presence in HOME does not mean it can be sent into every game. Pokémon’s move information and compatibility instructions explain the limits.
