If Crown Control crashes, will not launch, or runs slowly on Steam, start by checking your system against the requirements for your operating system. Then follow Steam’s general troubleshooting steps: update Windows and device drivers, verify the game files, and temporarily close non-essential software. These are general checks—not confirmed fixes for a known Crown Control bug.
Check Crown Control’s system requirements
The Steam listing for Crown Control gives separate minimum and recommended requirements for Windows and macOS. Compare your computer with the requirements for the operating system you use; meeting the minimum does not guarantee a particular frame rate or trouble-free launch.
| Platform | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 10; Intel Core i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200; 4 GB RAM; NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti or AMD RX 560; DirectX 11; 250 MB available storage | Windows 10; Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600; 8 GB RAM; NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD RX 580; DirectX 11; 250 MB storage |
| macOS | macOS 12 Monterey; Apple processor; Apple M1 or Intel Core i5; 4 GB RAM; Apple M1 integrated graphics or Intel Iris Plus; 250 MB storage | macOS 13 Ventura; Apple processor; Apple M1 or Intel Core i7; 8 GB RAM; Apple M1 or AMD Radeon Pro 5300M; 250 MB storage |
These are the specifications published on the Crown Control Steam listing. Steam cautions that a machine just at or below a game’s requirements may have launch or performance trouble, and that requirements do not guarantee high FPS.
If Crown Control will not start or crashes on launch
A game that remains at “Preparing to Launch” or disappears immediately may be crashing during startup. Steam’s launch guidance suggests checking requirements, updating Windows and device drivers, verifying game files, and disabling non-essential software. Work through these checks in order; they are general Steam recommendations, not a diagnosis of this game.

- Compare your hardware and operating system. Use the Windows or macOS column above, as appropriate. If your computer is below a listed requirement, that may help explain the launch problem.
- Install available system and driver updates. On Windows, Steam recommends updating Windows and device drivers. Use the normal update route for your operating system or graphics hardware.
- Verify the installed game files in Steam. Steam lists damaged or missing files as a possible cause of a game failing to launch. This check can help identify an installation problem; it does not establish that file corruption is the cause.
- Temporarily close non-essential background programs. Try launching again to check whether another program is interfering. Do not disable security protection wholesale.
- Record what happens if the failure continues. Note the exact error message, operating-system version, CPU and GPU, graphics-driver version, and whether the game crashes before or after its first window appears. Use the game’s support entry through your Steam Library to seek game-specific help.
Steam’s full guidance for launch failures is in Games do not run after ‘Preparing to Launch’. Steam directs players to the third-party game’s support team when its general steps do not resolve the issue.
If Crown Control runs at low FPS or feels choppy
Steam says reduced FPS can have many causes and can be difficult to diagnose without examining the individual machine. Begin with your system requirements, then adjust available resolution or graphics settings one at a time and compare how the game performs. Lowering demanding settings may help reveal whether the current configuration is contributing to the slowdown, but there is no documented optimal setting or guaranteed FPS fix for Crown Control.
