Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo troubleshoot lag on a China game server, first identify whether you have high, steady ping, sudden spikes, packet loss, disconnects, or visual stutter. Then check whether the issue affects one game or your whole connection, compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet if possible, and collect details before contacting game support or your ISP. The right cause depends on your location, game, selected server, ISP, and current network route; “China server” alone does not identify it.
Identify what kind of lag you are experiencing
These symptoms can feel similar during a match but point to different problems. Riot Games Support defines latency as the round-trip time for packets to travel between your computer and the game server. Jitter is variation in latency, and packet loss means packets fail to arrive. Lower latency and jitter and packet loss closer to zero are generally preferable. See Riot’s connection troubleshooting guide.
- Consistently high ping: Actions may feel delayed throughout play.
- Ping spikes or jitter: The connection becomes intermittently delayed, even if its usual ping is acceptable.
- Packet loss: Some game data does not arrive, which can cause rubber-banding, missing actions, or disconnects.
- Visual stutter: The picture may freeze or skip even when network indicators look normal. Check the game’s network display, if available, before assuming this is a connection problem; local game or device performance may be involved.
Riot Games Support notes that when a connection is otherwise working normally, physical distance from Riot’s game servers is the largest contributor to latency. That statement concerns Riot’s services; it does not identify the cause or expected ping for another game or a particular player.
Find out whether it is the game or your connection
Check the game publisher’s official service-status page and support notices for problems affecting the selected region. Then compare the affected game with another online game and ordinary internet use.

- Several games or services are affected: Check local Wi-Fi, router and shared network activity, then consider whether your ISP connection is involved.
- Only one game is affected: Check the selected game region or server, publisher service notices, and the game’s client-specific troubleshooting guidance.
Riot groups possible connection problems into three broad areas: the game service, the ISP, and local software, environment, or equipment. This is a useful way to organize checks, not a diagnosis of your connection. Its reconnection guidance also supports checking service conditions and gathering evidence when troubleshooting.
Test your local network without changing several things at once
Keep the test comparable: use the same game, selected server, and roughly the same time window, and note ping stability, spikes, and packet loss. Change one condition at a time so you can tell what affected the result.

Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi
If possible, connect the gaming device to the router by Ethernet and repeat the test. Riot Games Support warns that wireless interference can cause lag spikes or packet loss. A wired comparison helps isolate Wi-Fi issues, but it does not remove the physical distance to the server or delays elsewhere in the route. If you need a cable to run the comparison, a suitable Ethernet cable is simply a way to perform the test—not a guaranteed lag fix.
Pause competing network activity
Briefly pause downloads, large updates, video streams, and other network-heavy apps; if practical, ask others sharing the connection to pause them too. Riot’s guidance notes that heavy use can add network load, especially on shared connections. Repeat the same game/server test and observe whether the symptom changes.

Test without a VPN or proxy
If you are using a VPN or proxy, compare the game with it disabled unless the game’s support team specifically asks you to perform a routing test. Riot advises against using VPNs or proxies to connect to its game servers except for specific tests directed by support, and its cross-region VPN guidance notes that lag spikes can affect players. These Riot-specific recommendations are not a universal rule for every game, but they are a reason not to assume a VPN or gaming-route tool will lower your ping.
Follow the publisher’s game-specific steps
Use the game publisher’s own instructions for client repair, network drivers, firewall settings, and log collection rather than applying another game’s steps indiscriminately. For Riot games, the PC connection troubleshooting guide recommends steps including updating network drivers, checking firewall settings, and collecting logs if the problem continues.

Understand what a China server label can—and cannot—tell you
A server label does not establish the physical server location, your route to it, or the condition of that route. Traffic may cross backbone and ISP networks; Riot’s technical explanation of internet routing for real-time applications describes how network interconnections and routing hardware can contribute to latency and packet loss. That makes upstream routing one possibility to investigate, not a confirmed cause for your connection.
Your location, the game, the exact region or server selected, your ISP, and the current route all matter. There is no universal ping range or single China-specific fix that can be inferred from the server label alone.

Huawei Cloud describes a Global Accelerator service that aims to route game traffic from nearby access points over its backbone toward game servers, with the stated goal of reducing hops, latency, jitter, and packet loss. This is a description of a cloud service, not independent evidence that it will help a particular player, game, or consumer connection. Check applicability and availability before treating it as an option.
Prepare a useful report for game support or your ISP
If the basic comparisons do not resolve the issue, gather the details below. They help support staff distinguish a game-specific problem from a local or ISP connection issue.
- Exact game and selected region or server.
- Your country or region, without sharing more personal location detail than needed.
- Date and time of the problem, including time zone if relevant, and whether it is constant or occurs at particular times.
- Whether you were using Ethernet or Wi-Fi, and whether a VPN or proxy was enabled.
- The game’s ping and packet-loss indicators, plus a description of spikes, jitter, freezes, or disconnects.
- Whether other games and internet services were affected.
- Logs requested by the publisher and the troubleshooting steps you already tried.
Check the publisher’s service notices and send the evidence to game support. If the pattern suggests a broader connection issue, give your ISP the destination or service involved and the times you observed the problem. Do not assume a route fault merely because the server is described as being in China; the game and ISP can investigate with the specific details.
