That identifies the error class, not the cause on your console, so there is no confirmed universal fix. Start with where it appears: in one game, during account sign-in, or alongside broader connection problems.
What Xbox error 0x80190190 means
Microsoft’s Game Development Kit maps 0x80190190 to HTTP_E_STATUS_BAD_REQUEST. In plain terms, the request was malformed or invalid. The code alone does not identify which game, account request, Xbox service, or network condition produced it. It is therefore not proof that your console or router has a fault. Microsoft’s GDK error-code reference documents the mapping.

Identify whether one game triggers it
Note the game, the action underway, and whether the pop-up interrupts play or prevents an online feature from working. If other games and Xbox network functions work, focus on that title’s support and settings rather than assuming a console-wide network failure.

For the reported Persona 5 Royal symptom, consider the Network Functions setting
In a Microsoft Q&A thread published October 21, 2022, an Xbox Series X player reported that turning off Persona 5 Royal’s Network Functions, identified in the discussion as Thieves Network, stopped a recurring pop-up. This is a user report, not an official or universal fix. Turning the feature off means losing its online functions. Read the Persona 5 Royal report before deciding whether that trade-off suits you.

If sign-in fails, use Microsoft’s sign-in guidance
Apply this step only when the code appears during Microsoft account sign-in. Microsoft’s general Error 400 sign-in guidance suggests trying another available sign-in method, updating or reinstalling the relevant app, signing in on another device, or changing networks. These options address sign-in troubleshooting generally; Microsoft does not present them as a specific repair for Xbox error 0x80190190.

If several Xbox network functions fail, compare connections
Test the console’s network connection. If you are on Wi-Fi and can do so, compare it with a wired connection; you can also restart networking equipment as a basic isolation check. Record the context and seek support if it persists
Write down the device or console, game, action that triggers the error, approximate time, and whether other online functions still work. If it persists after the relevant checks—or appears across unrelated contexts—contact Xbox support with those details. The code does not, by itself, establish which request or service failed.

What not to assume
- It does not automatically mean your internet is down. HTTP 400 describes an invalid request; it is not a diagnosis of a network or hardware failure.
- A fix reported for one game may not apply elsewhere. The Persona 5 Royal workaround is a historical user report tied to that game’s online feature.
- Windows advice is not automatically Xbox advice. A separate Microsoft Q&A post concerns Windows 11 gaming, so it does not validate Windows troubleshooting steps for an Xbox console. See that Windows 11 report.
- A reset or replacement is not established as a remedy. The cited information does not show that a factory reset, offline system update, new console, router, cable, controller, or USB drive fixes this specific error. A wired connection is only an optional comparison if you suspect Wi-Fi.
