How to Tune Racing Wheel Force Feedback in Gran Turismo 7

Adjust GT7’s Max. Torque and Sensitivity gradually, test with a familiar car and track, and lower the values if your wheel vibrates harshly.

In Gran Turismo 7, tune force feedback under Controller Settings > Steering Force Feedback by adjusting Force Feedback Max. Torque and Force Feedback Sensitivity one at a time. There is no documented universal best pair: the feel depends on the wheel, and very high settings can cause violent vibration. Start moderately, test the same car and track, and lower the values if the wheel becomes harsh or uncomfortable.

What the two force-feedback settings do

GT7 describes force feedback as conveying information about the road surface through the tires. In practical tuning, use Force Feedback Max. Torque to address the overall strength of the wheel’s force, then adjust Force Feedback Sensitivity separately to find a response that makes steering changes legible without feeling abrupt. These are practical interpretations for tuning, not technical definitions quoted from Polyphony Digital.

Polyphony Digital’s update 1.15 notice warns that very high values for either setting can cause violent vibration on listed wheels. If that happens, its instruction is direct: “If this happens, please set a lower value.”

A safe tuning workflow

  1. Check recognition and updates. Confirm GT7 recognizes the wheel, and check for current game updates and wheel firmware. Firmware reminders matter particularly for newer wheel effects; the late-2025 update 1.65 search result mentions updating wheel firmware alongside new force-feedback features.
  2. Check wheel inputs and pedals. For the Logitech G923, Polyphony Digital’s compatibility notice points to Options > Controllers > Steering Controller Settings for checking wheel inputs and calibrating pedal sensitivity. The location and guidance here are specific to the G923 notice.
  3. Record your current values. Open Controller Settings > Steering Force Feedback and note both settings so you can restore them if a change makes the wheel worse.
  4. Choose a repeatable test. Use a familiar car and track. Begin with moderate values, then drive the same corner or surface when comparing changes. This is a cautious tuning method, not an official numeric preset.
  5. Change one setting at a time. Adjust Max. Torque if the overall force feels too strong or too weak. Then adjust Sensitivity independently to refine how steering-force changes come through. Avoid changing both between runs, or it will be harder to tell which change helped.
  6. Stop if the wheel becomes harsh. If it vibrates violently, becomes uncomfortable, or overwhelms useful steering detail, lower the values and retest. Do not try to push through excessive vibration.
  7. Recheck after updates. If the feel changes following a game update, revisit your recorded settings and firmware status. GT7 has received model-specific force-feedback changes and later wheel-effect updates.

Why a copied “best settings” pair may not work

Settings shared for a Logitech G923, Thrustmaster T-GT, Fanatec Podium, or Fanatec GT DD Pro are not interchangeable guarantees. Polyphony Digital has documented force-feedback adjustments for named hardware, and its 1.15 notice specifically warns about high torque or sensitivity settings. A creator’s or community member’s numeric values are personal settings, not an official GT7 recommendation.

  • Four 5-way directional sticks: Assigned to GT7's rapid-access adjustments for traction control, brake balance, torque split, and fuel mapping

There is also a G923-specific feature to account for: GT7 routes engine and wheel-slip vibration effects through Logitech TRUEFORCE, according to Polyphony Digital’s compatibility notice. Do not assume those TRUEFORCE effects apply to other wheels.

What GT7’s wheel updates establish

Polyphony Digital’s May 2022 force-feedback notice described excessive vibration in certain wheel-and-car combinations and temporary reductions to force-feedback intensity and torque for the Thrustmaster T-GT, Fanatec Podium, and Fanatec GT DD Pro. That is dated history, not proof that the same temporary adjustment describes current behavior.

The official search result for late-2025 update 1.65 reports simulated friction for select force-feedback wheels, FullForce effects enabled for the Fanatec GT DD Extreme, and a reminder to update wheel firmware. Because the full page is not available here, those details do not establish compatibility for other models or explain the feature behavior in greater depth. Check the current in-game behavior and official update notes for your wheel rather than assuming an effect is supported.

When to consider a different wheel

If you are choosing hardware rather than tuning a wheel you already own, compare PlayStation and GT7 compatibility, force range, supported in-game effects, adjustment and firmware needs, and cost. Polyphony Digital’s notices identify examples of compatible models and supported features, but they do not provide comparative testing or establish which wheel is best. The G923 is one documented GT7-compatible example, not a required purchase or a universal recommendation.
