Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsYou can use podcast episodes in a YouTube live broadcast, but an RSS feed does not itself stream live. The feed points to episode files; an encoder must play those files and send audio and video to YouTube Live. For regular on-demand podcast distribution, YouTube’s RSS feature is a separate option that publishes selected episodes as videos with show artwork.
Choose between YouTube RSS uploads and a live broadcast
| Need | YouTube RSS podcast upload | Encoder-based YouTube Live |
|---|---|---|
| Result | On-demand episode videos with show artwork | A live audiovisual broadcast; streams under 12 hours are automatically archived |
| Main input | Feed URL and selected episodes | Audio or media playback sent through an encoder |
| Setup | Connect the feed in YouTube Studio and verify feed ownership | Create or schedule a stream, then configure the encoder with YouTube’s server URL and stream key |
| New episodes | YouTube can upload episodes added to the feed | Update the source playlist or automation yourself |
| Availability | Available in selected regions | YouTube Live availability and account requirements apply |
| Best fit | Standard on-demand episode distribution | A scheduled listening event, continuous broadcast, or live presentation |
YouTube describes its RSS feature this way: “When you submit your RSS feed to YouTube, YouTube will create videos for each podcast episode that you choose to upload.” See YouTube Help: Deliver podcasts using an RSS feed. It is not a continuous live broadcast.
Prepare an episode or playlist for the encoder
Find the actual audio file
A podcast RSS feed is XML containing episode metadata and links. In a typical item, the <enclosure> element gives the media URL, MIME type, and file length; Apple’s feed requirements call for a unique enclosure for each episode. Open or download the linked audio file, or use a feed-aware playlist process. Do not point an encoder at the RSS XML and expect it to behave like an audio stream. See the Podcast Standards Project RSS standard and Apple Podcasts for Creators feed requirements.
Choose manual playback or a prepared playlist
For a simple setup, download the episode and load it into OBS. OBS Media Source supports formats including MP3 and AAC and provides a Loop option. For a prepared set of episodes, OBS’s VLC Video Source can play and loop a playlist. These playback options do not establish that OBS automatically watches arbitrary RSS feeds for new episodes. See the OBS Project Media Sources documentation (published January 11, 2022; check it against your installed version).

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Make the video layer
A live stream needs a video picture as well as audio. In OBS, add show artwork, a title card, a waveform, or other visuals to the scene, and make sure the audio source is audible in the mixer. Static show art is also how YouTube presents audio-first episodes imported through RSS, but it does not prescribe the design of a live scene.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Create the broadcast: In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and open its stream settings. YouTube provides the server URL and stream key there.
- Keep the key private: In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the stream key (or use the available account connection flow). The key identifies where the encoder sends the feed and lets YouTube accept it, so treat it like a password. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the encoder connection.
- Set the output: In OBS, open Settings → Output and configure a compatible encoder. YouTube’s published guidance calls for H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and constant bitrate (CBR). Its recommended keyframe interval is two seconds and must not exceed four seconds. For resolution-specific bitrate guidance and current settings, consult YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
- Check the picture and sound: Play the episode, confirm the scene moves or displays as intended, and listen for clean, audible audio. Use YouTube Studio’s stream health information to catch problems before sharing the live link.
- Go live and verify: Start streaming in OBS, then confirm the incoming stream and start the broadcast in YouTube Studio if prompted. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For longer sessions, do not rely on an automatic archive; arrange your own recording if you need a copy.
YouTube’s encoder instructions summarize the connection step: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” See YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and Google’s RTMPS delivery guidance.

Account for rights and YouTube policy
- Having access to an episode’s RSS link does not by itself give you permission to rebroadcast it. Confirm your rights to music, clips, guest contributions, and other third-party material under the show’s licenses and agreements.
- YouTube’s RSS-upload guidance says content submitted through that feature cannot contain advertisements. Branded content such as host-read promotions, sponsorships, or endorsements must be disclosed and comply with applicable policies. Check the current RSS podcast guidance and YouTube policies before using that upload route.
- YouTube recommends checking uploaded episodes for monetization or copyright issues. Review any claims or restrictions that appear in Studio; a live encoder connection does not clear content rights.
- YouTube RSS ingestion is limited to selected regions. Episodes already published through RSS cannot simply have their audio replaced in place: uploading the corrected episode creates a new video and makes the old one private.
Troubleshoot common setup problems
- The encoder will not play the feed URL: An RSS URL is metadata, not the episode’s audio transport. Open the episode’s enclosure URL and use the actual media file, or build a playlist from episode files.
- YouTube receives no signal: Check that OBS is streaming, the server URL and stream key match the current broadcast, and the key has not been replaced. Keep the key private; regenerate it in Studio if it may have been exposed.
- Audio plays but the stream looks blank: Check that the OBS scene contains a visible image or video source and that it is not hidden behind another layer. An audio-only episode still needs a video output for YouTube Live.
- The audio is silent or distorted: Confirm the correct media source is active, its mixer channel is not muted, and the selected output format is compatible. Test a short section before the scheduled broadcast.
- The next episode does not start: A looped single-file source repeats that file; it does not fetch future RSS items. Update the playlist or use a separately verified automation that explicitly supports feed polling and playlist handling.
- An RSS upload is unavailable or does not update: The feature is region-limited, and a published episode’s audio cannot be edited in place through RSS. Check YouTube Studio’s podcast controls and the current Help guidance for availability and correction options.
