You currently can’t turn off political themes or selectively filter sensitive story content in GTA 6 based on the official information reviewed. The game has not launched as of October 7, 2026, so its final settings may change. PlayStation and Xbox offer platform-level access restrictions, but those limit who can play; they are not documented as removing particular themes or scenes.
Does GTA 6 have a content filter?
No reviewed official source confirms an in-game setting that disables political content or filters sensitive story material in Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar’s reviewed support information covers privacy and user-generated content, such as profile information, a wall, and some game statistics. It does not document a GTA 6 story-content filter.
Because GTA 6 is still pre-launch as of October 7, 2026, there is no confirmed launch-menu path to provide. Check the released game’s settings and current Rockstar support guidance for any new options; do not assume a menu setting exists until it is documented.
What sensitive content does the rating identify?
The ESRB rates Grand Theft Auto VI Mature 17+ and lists Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol, and In-Game Purchases. These are rating descriptors, not switches that players can individually disable, and they are not a scene-by-scene guide. The ESRB entry does not list political content as a rating descriptor. What can parents restrict on PlayStation and Xbox?
Console parental controls can restrict access to a game by account or age rating. The official platform information reviewed does not say these controls rewrite GTA 6 or suppress selected scenes and themes.

Use the PlayStation Family App’s account age-restriction controls, as identified in PlayStation’s GTA VI FAQ. These controls manage whether an account can access the game; they do not provide a documented way to edit its content.

Start with the parental-control information linked from the Xbox GTA VI listing and set account access restrictions appropriate to your household. Xbox’s listing does not document a GTA 6-specific filter for story themes or scenes.
