Short answer: On X, open Notifications → gear → Muted → Muted words → Add, then save each GTA 6 title variant and spoiler term separately. X can remove matching posts from Home, notifications and replies, but not from search. Reddit relies mainly on spoiler tags, while TikTok’s documented controls cover notifications rather than a dependable GTA 6 keyword filter for the For You feed.
What a GTA 6 spoiler filter can—and cannot—do
A spoiler blocklist works by matching words or phrases in posts, notifications or other supported surfaces before you read them. It is useful for avoiding story details, leaked footage and character discussion, but it is not a complete internet-wide shield. People can misspell the title, use images instead of text, discuss a scene without naming the game, or post an unlabelled video thumbnail.

The most complete documented keyword option in this guide is X’s Muted words feature. X says it supports “muting words, phrases, usernames, emojis, and hashtags.” Matching is case-insensitive, and muting a word also mutes its hashtag form. X says muted posts are removed from the Home timeline, notifications and replies, while warning: “You will still see these posts via search.”
Other services use different models. Reddit’s official protection is post-level spoiler labelling that hides thumbnails and previews until you choose to open a post. TikTok’s cited support documentation explains muting direct-message and post notifications, not a reliable keyword filter for GTA 6 posts in the For You feed. Treat platform controls as separate tools rather than assuming one blocklist follows you everywhere.

Turn on GTA 6 keyword muting on X
The labels can look slightly different between the mobile app and the website, but the route is the same. Add one term at a time so you can later edit, extend or remove individual rules.
- Open the Notifications tab.
- Tap or click the gear icon to open notification settings.
- Choose Muted, then open Muted words.
- Select Add.
- Enter one word or phrase, then save it. Repeat the process for every entry you want to block.
- Choose whether the rule applies to the Home timeline, Notifications, or both.
- Where X offers the choice, set the audience scope: everyone, or only people you do not follow.
- Choose a duration: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or Forever.
- Save the rule and repeat until your list is complete.
For the broadest pre-release cover, select both Home timeline and Notifications and choose Forever. If you only want a temporary quiet period around a trailer or launch, use 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days instead. A shorter duration also reduces the chance that you miss ordinary discussion after you are ready to see it.
Which GTA 6 terms to add
Use title variants and spoiler vocabulary as separate entries. X’s matching is case-insensitive, so you do not need separate uppercase and lowercase versions. Because X says a muted word also covers its hashtag, adding the plain title is useful even when posts use a hashtag.

These are practical entries, not an official keyword list. Add a character name, location, mission name or leak term only after deciding that seeing the word itself would not spoil anything. A highly specific name can improve coverage, but it can also hide harmless posts you would have wanted to read.
Understand exactly where X muting works
Home timeline
When a muted term appears in a post, X says the matching post is removed from the Home timeline. This is the main protection against an unexpected spoiler appearing while you scroll.

Notifications
You can apply the rule to notifications as well as Home. However, X notes an important exception: if you have opted into mobile alerts for a particular account, those account notifications can still arrive even when the post contains a muted term. Muting words is therefore not a guarantee that every push alert will be suppressed.
Replies
X’s documented behavior includes replies among the surfaces from which muted posts are removed. This helps when you open a conversation that is otherwise safe but contains a spoiler in a reply.

Search is the clear boundary. X states that you will still see matching posts via search. Do not use the search tab to test whether a rule works if you are trying to remain spoiler-free; the test itself can expose the content you meant to avoid.
Case, hashtags and exact wording
Matching is case-insensitive. X also says muting a word mutes its hashtag, so a rule for GTA 6 can cover the hashtag form where the same word is present. You should still add the supplied title variants separately because GTA 6, GTA VI, and the full “Grand Theft Auto” forms are different strings.
Choose the right duration and audience scope
The duration setting should match your spoiler plan, not just your fear level. Use 24 hours for a single reveal or event, 7 days for a short news cycle, and 30 days for a longer review and launch window. Choose Forever if you want a permanent blocklist and are comfortable maintaining it yourself.

If X lets you choose between everyone and people you do not follow, applying the rule to everyone provides stronger protection. Limiting it to people you do not follow preserves posts from accounts you trust, but it leaves a possible route for a spoiler from those accounts. Remember that an explicitly enabled account alert can still bypass the muted-word expectation.

Keep a private copy of your chosen terms outside the app. If you later change phones, reinstall the app or rebuild settings, the list is easier to restore when you know exactly which variants and spoiler phrases you used.
Reddit: rely on spoiler tags, not a universal keyword mute
Reddit’s official help describes a different protection. A spoiler-tagged post hides its thumbnail and preview so you can decide whether to open it. Reddit also says a title containing “spoiler” or “spoilers” is automatically tagged.
This is a post-level convention, not evidence of a universal user keyword filter comparable to X’s Muted words. It depends on the post being tagged correctly and on the community’s moderation habits. An untagged title, image or comment can still reveal information before you choose to open it.
- Leave spoiler previews closed unless you are ready to see GTA 6 material.
- Be cautious in communities where users do not consistently label posts.
- Do not assume that adding a word to a Reddit setting will hide every matching post; the documented protection is the spoiler tag and its hidden preview.
- When you are ready to browse, open tagged posts deliberately rather than treating the tag as proof that the discussion is safe for your preferred spoiler level.
TikTok: notification muting is not a GTA 6 feed filter
The cited TikTok support documentation covers muting direct-message and post notifications. It does not document a dependable keyword filter that removes GTA 6 terms from the For You feed. Do not promise yourself an X-style blocklist there.

To reduce exposure, avoid searching for GTA 6, do not open or watch spoiler clips, and use TikTok’s available notification controls for unwanted alerts. Those steps can reduce signals that lead to more related recommendations, but they are not equivalent to a documented keyword rule and cannot guarantee that a video will not appear.
Creators can also place a title, character or location in on-screen text, captions, spoken audio or an image. A notification mute would not remove that material from the feed. Treat TikTok as the platform requiring the most caution until its own settings explicitly document a keyword-based feed filter.
YouTube, Instagram and other feeds
Cross-platform guides commonly recommend muting the title and likely character names, but capabilities differ between X, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit and Instagram and can change as apps update. The available evidence does not establish one universal keyword-filter procedure for those services.
Use each app’s current, clearly labelled controls rather than copying X’s path into another platform. Look specifically for settings that say they hide words from a feed; a control that only mutes notifications will not protect the Home, For You or recommendations surface. If an app offers only creator-level, channel-level or post-level controls, those are narrower than a title-wide keyword block.
A practical cross-platform spoiler-safe setup
- Start with X. Add all four title spellings, both hashtag forms and the spoiler phrases in the table. Apply the rules to Home and Notifications.
- Audit account alerts. Turn off optional mobile alerts for accounts likely to post GTA 6 material, because X says explicitly enabled account notifications can still arrive despite a muted term.
- Separate browsing from searching. Do not test the blocklist through X search; muted posts remain visible there.
- Adjust Reddit habits. Treat spoiler tags as a visual warning and keep previews closed in communities with inconsistent labelling.
- Limit TikTok exposure. Do not search, watch or engage with GTA 6 clips, and use the documented notification-muting controls for direct messages and post alerts.
- Review the remaining apps. Check whether each one offers a real feed keyword filter. If it does not, use its narrower controls and avoid spoiler-heavy searches, recommendations and notifications.
- Reassess at your chosen date. When your spoiler-free period ends, remove or shorten the X rules instead of deleting the whole list. That preserves the terms if you later need another temporary blackout.
Troubleshoot an X rule that appears not to work

This is expected behavior, not a failed setting. X says muted posts remain visible through search. Leave search alone while you are avoiding spoilers.

You see a notification from a followed account
Check whether you enabled mobile alerts for that account. X says those account notifications may still arrive even when the post contains a muted word. Disable the account alert or mute the account if you need stronger protection.
A hashtagged post is still visible in Home
Confirm that the rule is enabled for Home timeline, not only Notifications. X says muting a word also mutes its hashtag, but a rule applied to the wrong surface will not affect Home.
One spelling is blocked but another is not
Add the alternate title form as its own entry. Case changes do not matter, but Arabic and Roman numerals and abbreviated versus full title wording are different terms.

You are missing harmless posts
Remove broad terms first, or narrow the duration and audience scope. Words such as “story,” “mission” and “review” can occur in unrelated conversations; keeping the title-specific terms while dropping broad phrases may give you a better balance.
When to update the list
Do not add new character or location names merely because they are trending; that can reveal the very information you are trying to avoid. Add a term only when you are comfortable seeing the name itself and believe it will block a meaningful new route for spoilers.
After you have played the content you wanted to protect, shorten or remove temporary rules. If you selected Forever, review the list manually so ordinary GTA discussion does not remain hidden indefinitely. Keep title variants that are still useful, and remove broad phrases that now create unnecessary noise.

Build the blocklist on X first: add the four title spellings, both hashtag forms and the specific spoiler phrases, then apply the rules to Home and Notifications for the period you need. Remember that search and some account alerts can bypass the filter. On Reddit, look for correctly applied spoiler tags and hidden previews. On TikTok and less-documented feeds, use notification controls and disciplined browsing, but do not treat them as guaranteed keyword filters.
