There are two official ways to unlink Roblox from Xbox: in the Roblox Xbox app, go to Home → X button → Settings → Account → UNLINK [YOUR GAMERTAG]; or sign in to the linked Roblox account and use Settings → Security → Xbox → Disconnect. Unlinking removes the account association, but it does not merge Roblox accounts or transfer Robux, items, purchases, or progress.
Before you unlink Roblox from Xbox
- Confirm the Roblox username currently connected to Xbox.
- Confirm the active Xbox gamertag, especially if several Microsoft profiles are used on the console.
- Make sure you know the login details for the Roblox account you want to use next.
- Remember that Roblox account data stays associated with its Roblox account. Unlinking is not an account deletion or transfer process.
If Robux, avatar items, or purchases appear to be missing afterward, first check that you have signed into the Roblox account where they were originally obtained. Roblox’s purchase support guidance specifically recommends checking the account and may require the Roblox username, Xbox gamertag, and receipt information.

Unlink Roblox from the Xbox app
- Open Roblox on Xbox.
- Return to the Roblox Home screen.
- Press the controller’s X button to open Roblox settings.
- Select Settings, then choose Account.
- Select UNLINK [YOUR GAMERTAG].
- Confirm the warning, if Roblox displays one.
Close and reopen Roblox if the app does not immediately show the sign-in screen. Roblox’s support documentation still calls this the “Xbox One App,” although the same general menu may appear on newer Xbox hardware. Labels can vary by app version or language.

Disconnect Xbox from Roblox account settings
- Sign in on the Roblox website or mobile app to the Roblox account currently linked to Xbox.
- Open Settings.
- Select the Security tab.
- Find the Xbox connection.
- Select Disconnect and confirm if prompted.
These are Roblox’s documented account-side instructions. If you do not see an Xbox connection, you may be signed into the wrong Roblox account, the connection may not currently be displayed, or the account/app state may not have updated. Try the Xbox-app method as well.
How to connect a different Roblox account
- Fully close Roblox on Xbox, then reopen it. Restart the console too if the old session remains.
- Check which Xbox gamertag is active.
- Choose the sign-in option instead of automatically continuing with a saved session.
- Enter the username and password for the intended Roblox account, or use another sign-in method Roblox makes available.
- Verify the displayed Roblox username before playing or making purchases.
Roblox says that an account can be linked to only one Xbox gamertag at a time. Its Xbox guidance also says the Xbox age setting should match the Roblox account’s age setting for linking and troubleshooting. Roblox describes Xbox availability as being for ages 10 and up in that support documentation; this is a platform-support statement, not a universal legal age rule.
If Roblox keeps reconnecting the old account
Some users report that the old account returns after disconnection or that the app appears to reconnect it. These reports are anecdotal, not a confirmed universal Roblox behavior. The usual causes to check are the same Xbox gamertag still being active, an automatically resumed Roblox session, or signing back into the same Roblox account.

Try this order:
- Use Roblox Settings → Security → Xbox → Disconnect, if available.
- Use the Xbox app path: Settings → Account → UNLINK [YOUR GAMERTAG].
- Close Roblox completely.
- Sign out of or switch away from the unwanted Xbox profile.
- Restart the console or relaunch Roblox.
- Verify the active gamertag before signing into the intended Roblox account.
Reinstalling Roblox may clear local app state, but it is not the primary documented way to remove the Roblox–Xbox association and should not be treated as a guaranteed fix.
If the Unlink or Disconnect button is missing
- Check the Roblox username currently signed in.
- Open Settings → Security again and look for the Xbox connection.
- Try the Xbox app’s Settings → Account menu.
- Sign out of the relevant Xbox profile and Roblox session, then restart the app.
- If the connection still cannot be removed, contact Roblox Support.
When contacting support, include the Roblox username, Xbox gamertag, screenshots of the available menus or error, and a precise description of what happened. Do not send your password.
Fixing “already linked to a different Xbox account”
This error usually means the Roblox account you are trying to use still has an Xbox association, or you are attempting to connect it from an unexpected Xbox profile. Unlink it from the Roblox account that owns the existing connection, then try again.

If you cannot access that Roblox account, recover it before creating more accounts. If you do not recognize the linked Xbox account or believe the connection is unauthorized, contact Roblox Support and provide the account and gamertag details they request.

Does unlinking delete Robux or progress?
Unlinking is not a Roblox account-deletion operation. Robux, avatar items, and account history remain associated with the relevant Roblox account. However, signing into a different Roblox account can make your balance, inventory, purchases, or experience data look missing because you are viewing another account.
Do not assume that every experience’s console progress is transferable: experience-specific data can behave differently. For purchase problems, keep the receipt and note both the Roblox username and Xbox gamertag. Roblox provides guidance for locating purchase receipts.

Do not confuse Xbox unlinking with parental controls
Roblox has a separate parent-and-child account unlink process under Settings → Parental Controls → select account → pencil icon → Unlink accounts. That removes a parental-account relationship; it does not disconnect a Roblox account from an Xbox gamertag. See Roblox’s parental account instructions for that separate task.

Roblox’s Xbox support documentation states that one Roblox account can be linked to only one Xbox gamertag at a time.
Is deleting and reinstalling Roblox necessary?
