You unlink an Xbox, PlayStation Network, Steam, Nintendo, or other connected account from the Epic Games website, not from the console itself. Sign in to the correct Epic Games account, open Account → Linked accounts, choose the platform, and select Unlink or Remove.
Do not proceed until you have confirmed which Epic account contains your Fortnite, Fall Guys, or Rocket League data. Unlinking can remove the disconnected platform’s access to progress and purchases, and linking a replacement account may trigger a restriction that Epic allows you to remove only once every 365 days.

Before you unlink: the risks
Unlinking removes the connection between an external platform account and an Epic Games account. It does not delete the Epic account, merge two Epic accounts, or automatically transfer progress to another account.
- Fortnite and Fall Guys: the disconnected platform can lose access to progress and purchases stored on the Epic account.
- Rocket League: unlinking the platform holding the relevant progression can reset that platform’s inventory and XP level.
- Launching the game afterward: Epic may create a new, empty Epic account for the disconnected platform.
- Fortnite Crew: if you remove the platform account carrying the subscription, Epic warns that no new Crew rewards will be delivered from that account after unlinking.
- Replacing the account: a new Xbox, PSN, Steam, or Nintendo account may be blocked by a same-platform linking restriction.

Check the account before making changes
- Confirm that you can access the Epic email address and password.
- Verify the Epic email address if Epic requests verification.
- Sign out of Epic in your browser.
- On the Epic sign-in page, choose the relevant platform icon—Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, or Nintendo—and sign in with that platform’s credentials. This helps identify the Epic account currently connected to it.
- Open Account → Linked accounts and record or screenshot the current connections.
- Confirm that this Epic account contains the progress and purchases you want to keep.
The email used by Xbox, PSN, Steam, or Nintendo does not have to match the email used by Epic. A different email address alone is not evidence that the wrong account is linked. See Epic’s account-identification guidance.
How to unlink any platform from Epic Games
- Open Epic Games in a browser on a phone or computer.
- Select Sign in.
- Sign in to the Epic account currently connected to the platform you want to remove.
- Open the account menu and choose Account.
- Select Linked accounts.
- Find Xbox, PlayStation Network, Steam, Nintendo, or the relevant service.
- Select Unlink or Remove.
- Read every warning and select the required confirmation boxes.
- Confirm the unlink.
Menu labels can vary between Unlink, Remove, Connect, and Link. Do not immediately launch Fortnite, Fall Guys, or another Epic-connected game from the disconnected platform unless you understand that a blank Epic account may be created.
Unlink an Xbox account
Sign in to the correct Epic account, open Account → Linked accounts, find Xbox, and select Unlink. Complete the warnings before confirming.

If you want to connect a different Xbox account, ordinary unlinking may not be enough. Epic can retain a same-platform restriction after an Xbox account is removed. Use Epic’s linked-console account change process if the new account is rejected. Restriction removal is limited to once every 365 days.
Unlink a PlayStation Network account
In Epic account settings, open Linked accounts, find PlayStation Network or the PSN icon, and select Unlink. Confirm the warnings.
The disconnected PSN account can lose access to Fortnite and Fall Guys data stored on the Epic account. If you are replacing it with another PSN account, expect the same-platform restriction described above; do not assume that removing the old connection immediately makes any new PSN account eligible.

Unlink Steam from Epic Games
- Verify the Epic account email if prompted.
- Open Account → Linked accounts.
- Find Steam.
- Select Unlink.
- Follow the confirmation instructions.
Epic warns that unlinking Steam can prevent a different Steam account from being connected until the relevant restriction is removed. The 365-day limit applies to Epic’s restriction-removal process. The consequences for Steam games vary by game; do not assume every Steam title stores progression through Epic.

Unlink Nintendo Switch
Use the same Epic website process: open Account → Linked accounts, find the Nintendo connection, select Unlink, and confirm the warnings.
Supported Epic-game progress can synchronize when the same Epic account is connected, but Nintendo cautions that shared progress and purchases do not include every type of currency. In particular, unused in-game currency such as V-Bucks is not covered by Nintendo’s shared-progress statement. See Nintendo’s account-linking guidance.

Disconnect an app or service instead
If you only want to revoke access for an application or service, do not remove your console or Steam connection:
- Sign in to Epic Games.
- Open Account → Linked accounts.
- Open the Apps section.
- Expand the relevant service.
- Select Unlink.
This is separate from unlinking Xbox, PlayStation Network, Steam, or Nintendo. Epic documents the process on its app and service disconnection page.

- Identify the Epic account containing the data you want to preserve.
- Unlink the old platform account from that Epic account.
- If Epic reports a linking restriction, use the official restriction-removal process.
- Check whether you have already used that process within the previous 365 days.
- Sign in to the replacement platform account and link it to the intended Epic account.
- Verify the game’s progress before making any further account changes.
Only one account of each platform type can be connected to an Epic account at a time, and one platform account cannot be connected to multiple Epic accounts simultaneously. Epic explains these rules in its cross-platform account guidance.

| Rocket League | Unlinking the platform where relevant progression is stored may reset inventory and XP level. |
For Rocket League, identify the active or primary platform before unlinking. Rocket League has platform-specific progression and item behavior; Epic’s warning is not equivalent to saying that every item works identically on every platform. Fix “another account was previously linked”
This message usually means that the platform account has already been associated with an Epic account, or that the Epic account retains a same-platform restriction.
- Sign out of Epic in the browser.
- Choose the relevant platform icon on Epic’s sign-in page.
- Sign in with the Xbox, PSN, Steam, or Nintendo credentials.
- Check which Epic account opens.
- If it is an incomplete or automatically created account, do not unlink it casually; it may contain the platform’s existing game data.
- Complete or upgrade that account where possible. Epic explains this type of account in its console-account upgrade guidance.
- Unlink the old platform connection from the Epic account that currently owns it.
- Use Epic’s restriction-removal process if eligible, remembering the once-per-365-days limit.
- Contact Epic Support if the account remains trapped in an incorrect-link or restriction loop.
If you unlinked the wrong account
Stop launching the game through the disconnected platform. Sign in to the original Epic account—the one that held the desired progress—and try to reconnect the original platform account. Do not create another Epic account or repeatedly use restriction removal while guessing; the cooldown can prevent another correction for 365 days.
If you cannot access the Epic email, recover the Epic account first. Signing in through the platform icon can help locate it, but it is safer to use account recovery or Epic Support than to unlink blindly.
