Identify what kind of terminal you’re using

Panels that look alike can serve different purposes, so do not assume that a keycard or procedure for one works on another. Labs keycards, in particular, can be zone-specific. Check the requirement before using an access item
- Match the location. Confirm the map, building or room, and the exact door or task. A similar-looking panel elsewhere may have a different purpose.
- Read the prompt and label. Check the interaction prompt, door label, and—if this is a quest—the exact objective.
- For a locked door, verify the matching key or keycard. Do not assume a card that opens one area will work at another panel.
- For a quest, verify task state and inventory. Make sure the relevant task is active, you have any required item, and you are at the objective’s specified location.
- Check for a separate activation condition. If the interaction appears to depend on power, look for nearby switches or controls and activate them. Power may be required in addition to a key or keycard, not instead of it.
If the terminal prompt appears but nothing happens
- Recheck the map, room, door label, and objective to make sure you have the correct panel.
- Confirm the relevant key or keycard, quest state, carried item, or activation condition for that interaction.
- If everything appears correct, cancel the interaction, step back, re-aim at the panel, and try once more.
- Avoid repeatedly guessing with valuable access items. If the requirement remains unclear, identify the map, building or room, door name, or quest objective before deciding which item to use.
