Two secondary guides report that it unlocks at Player Level 22; Activision confirms rank-based weapon unlocks but does not specify the knife’s exact level. Once it is available, equip it from a custom loadout’s secondary weapon menu. These steps are for the 2019 game, not every Modern Warfare title.
What level unlocks the Combat Knife?
Two secondary guides list the Combat Knife unlock at Player Level 22. Activision’s official progression guide confirms that weapons unlock as you gain XP and advance through the enlisted ranks, but it does not name the Combat Knife’s specific threshold. Treat Level 22 as reported guidance rather than an officially confirmed rank; if the knife is still locked, check the unlock information shown in your game and confirm that you are playing the 2019 title.

Activision describes progression through the enlisted ranks as a way to unlock weapons, equipment, perks, Field Upgrades, and Killstreaks, with Command Sergeant Major V at Level 55 as the rank progression endpoint. Read Activision’s progression guide.

If the Combat Knife is missing from your menu
- Check the game: These instructions apply to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019), not another game in the series. Activision’s game page identifies the 2019 title.
- Check your level: Level 22 is reported by secondary guides, while the official progression guide does not confirm that knife-specific level.
- Check your loadout path: Edit a custom loadout from Multiplayer or Special Ops, then look in the secondary weapon category’s Melee section.
