Reach Ruby Town Rank, complete the “Apiaries and Terrariums” quest, then craft a terrarium at the Woodcrafting station. Stock it with non-bee insects; after three in-game days, give it the crop or forageable it requests to receive Fish Bait or Bug Pheromones tied to the insects’ rarity.
How to unlock terrariums
Terrariums were added in the official 0.15.0 update. The quest “Apiaries and Terrariums” becomes available at Ruby Town Rank, and completing it unlocks terrariums. If you were already at a higher town rank or had met the requirements when the update arrived, the quest or item may appear immediately. Check the mailbox beside your house for additional details. NPC Studio’s 0.15.0 patch notes describe the unlock and quest.
How to craft a terrarium
Once unlocked, craft a terrarium at the Woodcrafting station. The Fields of Mistria Wiki and Fields of Mistria DB list the same materials and Woodcrafting requirement:

The listed crafting duration is inconsistent: the Fields of Mistria Wiki says 40 minutes, while Fields of Mistria DB says 40 seconds. Check the current recipe in your game rather than relying on either duration.

How to operate a terrarium
- Stock it with insects. Use non-bee insects. Bees are for apiaries, not terrariums. For rarity-specific production, the item reference says to use four insects of the same rarity. The Fields of Mistria Wiki describes the four-insect setup.
- Wait three in-game days. The terrarium then displays a request for a crop or forageable in a bubble above it, according to NPC Studio’s patch notes.
- Provide the requested item. Give the terrarium the crop or forageable shown to receive either Fish Bait or Bug Pheromones. The output is associated with the rarity of the insects inside.
How to use the terrarium’s output
Fish Bait
Use Fish Bait in open water to call fish of the bait’s rarity, or place it in the Beach fish trap. Matching rarity can help with Museum sets, as NPC Studio’s update notes explain.
Bug Pheromones
Use Bug Pheromones on open ground to summon bugs matching the pheromone item’s rarity. The Fields of Mistria Wiki reports that correctly stocked ordinary terrariums have an even chance of producing bait or pheromones, and that valid legendary insect stock yields legendary pheromones. Those probability and legendary-output details come from the community wiki, not the official patch notes.

Choosing insects for the result you want
There are no substantiated alternative terrarium models in the available item references. Choose insects by rarity based on the fish or bug you want to attract, then use the resulting bait or pheromones in the appropriate location. The official notes describe the outputs as dependent on insect rarity; for the exact chance of each output, the community wiki is the source for the reported even split.
