Campaign guns are limited by the encounter’s Licence to Kill rules and may be pickups or scene-specific options, while TacSim has persistent progression through Clearance Levels and Intel. The chapter-by-chapter gadget order below is reported by a specialist guide, not published as an official IO Interactive unlock table.
Gadget unlock order
The launch-campaign gadget set comprises two permanent tools and six selectable loadout gadgets, according to an independent specialist guide. The guide reports that you begin with two active gadget slots and gain a third later in the story. IO Interactive describes some gadget functions officially, but has not published a complete per-gadget chapter table; treat the exact chapter mappings and slot timing below as guide-reported.

IO Interactive’s official gadget descriptions for the Q-Lens, Q-Watch, Smoke Pod, Laser Strap, and Flash Mine appear in its 007 First Light materials. The specific chapter mapping and the count of eight total gadgets come from the specialist guide, rather than an official chapter-by-chapter list.
How campaign weapons work
Firearms do not follow the same simple story-unlock pattern as gadgets. The Licence to Kill system limits when Bond can use a gun: access depends on the encounter becoming lethal, such as enemies opening fire or an active fire-on-sight situation. A weapon reported in a campaign guide may be a pickup or available only in a particular scene, not a permanent gun that can be equipped freely in every mission.

Independent weapon coverage names examples including the Service Pistol, PDR-9 Pistol, Stormer-99 Pistol, SB-10 SMG, DRS-7 Silent SMG, DRX-2 Machine Pistol, DRX 12 Gauge, Knight 1 AR, and K&S Bolt Action. These are examples of the reported arsenal, not a definitive official roster or a confirmed chapter-by-chapter unlock list. Guides differ on firearm names and acquisition routes, and IO Interactive has not published a complete campaign gun table.
How to unlock weapons in TacSim
TacSim has its own persistent progression. IO Interactive says completing TacSim missions earns XP and Intel: XP raises Clearance Level and unlocks reward sets, while Intel is used to acquire those rewards. The official update 1.3.0 notes list two newly added weapons with explicit requirements:

Those requirements are for the named TacSim unlocks in IO Interactive’s October 1, 2026 update notes; they do not establish the acquisition route for every firearm. The same announcement says TacSim missions now provide access to the main-campaign arsenal, so the two armories overlap, but the full route for each gun is not officially itemized.
What update 1.3.0 changes
IO Interactive released update 1.3.0, titled Extended Operations, on October 1, 2026. It added New Game+, Photo Mode, a new “00” difficulty, TacSim content including Valhalla Protocol and Jungle Heist, and more than 700 fixes and improvements.

New Game+ requires completing the entire campaign. On replay, Gadget on Demand lets you swap gadgets during a mission, but only gadgets already unlocked at your current story point are available. IOI also says New Game+ retains unlocked outfits and gadgets. The “00” difficulty unlocks after the campaign and makes enemies react faster, restricts gadget use in guards’ line of sight, and reduces combat forgiveness. Choosing gadgets for the mission
There is no single best loadout for every level. Match the available slots to the kind of opening you need and the mission’s restrictions:

- Briefly disabling an opponent: the Flash Mine’s light burst momentarily stuns opponents.
Check the mission’s rules before planning around firearms. A gun appearing in your inventory or in a guide does not override the Licence to Kill encounter gate.
