The named biome is the Forgotten Lands; “Pumpkin Town” is not a separate unlockable location in the sources.
What “Pumpkin Town” refers to
The game’s announcements refer to the Forgotten Lands, a Pumpkin House, and a mysterious tree—not a separate place named Pumpkin Town. The official Gameloft announcement describes the Forgotten Lands as a new biome, while the Disney Dreamlight Valley update announcement introduces the mysterious tree associated with Jack’s arrival. In the unlock quest, that tree is where you place the dolls that summon Jack.
Unlock Jack Skellington step by step
- Open the Forgotten Lands. The biome is northwest of the Valley and connects to the Sunlit Plateau. Clearing its entrance thorns is currently listed at 10,000 Dreamlight on the Forgotten Lands reference page.
- Complete “Miracles Take Time.” This Fairy Godmother quest is the prerequisite for “Something Comes A’Knocking.” The quest reference and Jack Skellington reference place it before Jack’s tree and dolls appear.
- Pick up a Matryoshka Doll. The first doll can spawn on the ground anywhere around the Valley. Picking one up starts Merlin’s “Something Comes A’Knocking.”
- Collect all four dolls and put them in the tree. Doll locations are random around the Valley. Return to the pumpkin-carved tree in the Forgotten Lands and place all four there as the quest directs.
- Build Jack’s house and speak with him. After the fourth doll, talk to Jack, place Jack Skellington’s House in the Valley, pay at Scrooge McDuck’s construction sign, then talk to Jack again to finish his arrival.
What the unlock costs—and what is uncertain
The current Forgotten Lands reference lists 10,000 Dreamlight for opening that biome. An October 2024 PC Gamer walkthrough instead reports 7,000 Dreamlight for the Sunlit Plateau and 15,000 for the Forgotten Lands. Those older guide figures conflict with the current biome listing, so use the in-game gate and current listing rather than treating the older amounts as current costs.
Jack’s house must be constructed to complete the quest, but the consulted quest and character references do not state its price. PC Gamer’s October 2024 guide reports 5,000 Star Coins; treat that as an older guide figure, not a verified current price. Check the construction sign in your game for the amount it actually requests.

If the dolls or tree are missing
- Confirm that “Miracles Take Time” is complete; it is the prerequisite before the Jack quest sequence.
- Look for a Matryoshka Doll on the ground in other Valley areas. The dolls are randomly placed, so they may not all be in the Forgotten Lands.
- Pick up a doll to begin “Something Comes A’Knocking,” then use the active quest objectives to track the four placements and remaining steps.
