To unlock Lumiere and Cogsworth, first unlock the Beauty and the Beast Realm and bring both Belle and Beast to the Valley. Beast will then send a mailbox letter that starts the “Return to Beast’s Castle” quest chain. Complete its four quests, prepare the castle’s final celebration, and bring the characters back to the Valley on separate trips.
What to unlock before Beast’s letter arrives
Make sure Belle and Beast are both unlocked and living in the Valley. Beast’s letter, titled “My friends at the castle,” asks you to return to his castle in search of a charismatic pair. The free Return to Beast’s Castle update was released October 1, 2025; its notes identify the letter as the start of the journey and require Belle and Beast to be unlocked first.
When the letter appears in your mailbox, read it and enter the Beauty and the Beast Realm. The route is a sequence of four quests:
- The Haunting of Beast’s Castle
- A Growing Mystery
- Belle, Book, and Candle
- A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping
Complete the four castle quests
1. The Haunting of Beast’s Castle
Accept Beast’s letter, enter the Realm, and speak with Lumiere in the dark castle. Craft Fireplace Fuel from 3 Castle Canola, 1 Castle Paper, and 1 Castle Softwood, then give it to Lumiere. Catch the flying painting and hang it by the piano near the grand staircase. Collect the objects it reveals, including an Enigmatic Box and Domestic Manual Page 1, and report your findings to Lumiere.

Next, investigate the garden. Clear the obstacles and statues blocking the route to Cogsworth, speak with him, and bring him back to Lumiere.
2. A Growing Mystery
Continue helping Lumiere and Cogsworth repair the garden and investigate the strange events. Completing this quest leads to “Belle, Book, and Candle.”

3. Belle, Book, and Candle
Follow Lumiere’s tasks to restore castle objects and find the Domestic Manual pieces and key. Search the West Wing for the damaged manual, then leave the Realm to talk to Beast and ask Belle for help. Use Belle’s glue at a crafting station to repair the manual, show it to Lumiere, and put it on display. Continue through the key and invitation tasks. Finishing this quest automatically starts “A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping.”
4. A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping
Speak to Cogsworth, retrieve the Fine Cutlery from the garden cellar, and place it on the table by the piano. Prepare the food and decorations below before continuing with the celebration:

Tell Cogsworth the preparations are ready. Put on the Masquerade Mask and take a picture with both characters in front of the garlands. Listen to their reminiscences, then ask what happens next.

They arrive in separate trips rather than together. Return to the Valley with Lumiere and welcome him, then take him to Beast’s home. Beast will write a letter for Cogsworth. Carry that letter to Cogsworth in the Realm, return to the Valley with him, and welcome him. Finally, speak to Cogsworth at Beast’s home to complete the reunion.
