To access Ode to Castlevania, own the DLC, reach level 20 in the first stage to unlock Inlaid Library and Stage Selection, then choose Ode to Castlevania at the bottom of the stage list. Further unlocks happen inside the DLC stage: find and defeat bosses, unlock and evolve weapons, and meet the requirements for character Weapon Selectors. A complete, current checklist of every character and secret condition is not established by the available official guidance, so check the in-game Unlocks and Secrets entries for those individual requirements.
How to access the Ode to Castlevania stage
- Own the DLC. On Steam, Ode to Castlevania is downloadable content and requires the Vampire Survivors base game. On other platforms, confirm the DLC is available and owned in your platform’s store; availability and store requirements can vary by platform and region.
- Reach level 20 in the first stage. Poncle’s 2024 launch announcement says this unlocks Inlaid Library and, with it, Stage Selection.
- Choose the DLC stage. Open Stage Selection and select Ode to Castlevania at the bottom of the list.
Poncle’s FAQ names Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS as launch platforms. That is a launch-platform list, not a guarantee of current availability in every store or region.
What unlocks after you enter the stage?
Getting access to the map is only the first step. The DLC’s launch materials advertised more than 20 new characters and more than 40 new weapons and evolutions. Those are DLC-wide launch figures, not a verified count of stage secrets or a complete checklist of unlock conditions.
Hyper mode
The documented condition for Ode to Castlevania’s Hyper mode is to defeat Malphas at 25:00 while playing the stage in Normal mode. Because an individual unlock condition can change with updates, check its current entry in the game’s Unlocks menu if this requirement does not work in your version.
#1 Best Overall
- Classics that defined the Castlevania series.
- Includes the "History of Castlevania - Book of the Crescent Moon" ebook.
- This includes eight classic Castlevania games preserved on one disc with a full-color manual.
- The Castlevania Anniversary Collection on physical disc for the PlayStation 4. Also works on PlayStation 5. Region-free.
Bosses and map exploration
Do not assume every boss will appear simply by waiting for a particular time. Poncle’s launch guidance says many bosses must be actively sought out, and notes that map icons help players navigate the stage. Explore areas marked on the map and pursue bosses you have not yet found.
Weapons, evolutions, and Weapon Selectors
- Unlock weapons: Stage progression includes weapons associated with the DLC’s characters. The exact condition varies by item; use the game’s current Unlocks and Secrets entries for the specific requirement.
- Evolve weapons: The DLC follows the base-game pattern of combining an active weapon with its required passive item. Some evolutions also require the passive item to be at maximum level.
- Return to Weapon Selectors: DLC characters have at least one unlockable Weapon Selector. A selector becomes available after every weapon associated with it has been unlocked. If it remains unavailable, check which associated weapon is still missing.
Can you unlock every character and secret from this guide?
No reliable, version-current source establishes every individual character and secret condition here. The available stage reference is marked as a stub, and the official launch guidance explains progression systems rather than listing every later-added unlock. An exhaustive checklist would risk giving outdated or incomplete conditions.

- A Large Selection of Weapons and Abilities - The whip is not the only tool at your disposal. You will need to strategically plan your next move in combat and make full use of all the weapons and abilities to stand a chance!
- Environment Hazards That Will make you grit your teeth - Biomes are packed with secrets, traps and puzzles. It is not just about muscles, it's about brains too!
For a specific character or secret, open the current in-game Unlocks or Secrets menu and follow the displayed requirement. Check the game version and platform when comparing instructions: later updates may add secrets or change what is available, and the launch conditions should not automatically be treated as a complete list for every current version.
