The normal trial, The Windward Wilds, requires average item level 725; its Extreme version requires 740 and has a separate unlock contact.
How to unlock the Arkveld trial
- Complete the Dawntrail main scenario questline.
- Reach level 100 on a Disciple of War or Magic job.
- In Tuliyollal, speak with the Dawn Hunt Tracker at X:13.3 Y:13.1 and accept The White Wanderer.
- Complete the quest to gain access to The Windward Wilds, the Guardian Arkveld trial. You need an average item level of at least 725 to enter.
Square Enix notes that players starting from the latest expansion may purchase an optional Tales of Adventure item. It is not a guaranteed automatic unlock for every prerequisite: the quest still requires Dawntrail story progression and the level requirement.
How to unlock The Windward Wilds (Extreme)
After completing The White Wanderer, take a level 100 combat job to the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal at X:11.1 Y:14.6. Speaking with him unlocks the Extreme duty, which requires average item level 740.
| Duty | Entry requirements | Unlock | Rewards specified for the duty |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Windward Wilds | Level 100 combat job; average item level 725 | Complete The White Wanderer | Veldian weapon coffer for each player; Guardian scales may also be carved |
| The Windward Wilds (Extreme) | Level 100 combat job; average item level 740 | After The White Wanderer, speak with the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal at X:11.1 Y:14.6 | Veldian weapon coffer and two Guardian Arkveld certificates for each player; Guardian scales may also be carved |
Both are eight-player trials with a 60-minute time limit, as stated in the Patch 7.35 notes. Check the current in-game duty finder for any later changes.
#1 Best Overall

- New jobs, including gun breaker and dancer
- New playable races: Viera and Hrothgar
- Level cap increase from 70 to 80
- New cities to explore: The Crystarium and Eulmore
What rewards can you get?
Veldian weapons and upgrade currencies
Each player receives a Veldian weapon coffer from either duty. Guardian scales can also be carved from Guardian Arkveld’s hide. After finishing The White Wanderer, exchange scales for weapons and items at the smithy in Tuliyollal at X:13.2 Y:13.0.
Extreme clears also award two Guardian Arkveld certificates per player. Use these certificates at the smithy to enhance Veldian weapons. Scales and certificates have different uses: scales are exchange currency for weapons and items, while certificates are required for weapon enhancement.

Other items in the event catalog
Square Enix’s event catalog also lists Hope armor sets, Veldian weapons and augmented versions, Seikret and Felyne Support Team Cart mounts, Seikret Fledgling and Vigorwasp minions, housing furnishings, portrait kits, and orchestrion rolls. The catalog describes the crossover’s available items; it does not mean every item drops directly from a single trial clear. The patch notes identify the trial’s direct rewards and exchange currencies.
Is the Arkveld duty limited time?
No. Square Enix’s official event page states: “This is not a limited time Duty.” That statement applies to the duty itself, not necessarily to separate promotions such as screenshot sweepstakes.
