Reach Research Level 50 in Mable’s Research, then claim the Shiny Charm reward from the menu. Your Mable’s Research tab shows the tasks you still need to complete; the exact route depends on your progress and whether you own the Mega Dimension DLC.
How to get the Shiny Charm
- Open the Mable’s Research tab and check your current research level and available tasks.
- Complete the listed tasks to earn research progress. Tasks can include catching specified Pokémon, filling Pokédex entries, evolving Pokémon, using items, and other activities.
- Continue until you reach Research Level 50.
- Claim the earned reward through the menu to obtain the Shiny Charm.
Nintendo Life’s guide and GameSpot’s guide describe Level 50 as the unlock threshold; Nintendo Life also explains that you can review tasks in the Mable’s Research tab and claim earned rewards through the menu. Nintendo Life’s Shiny Charm guide · GameSpot’s guide

How to plan the research grind
Reaching Level 50 can take substantial progress. Nintendo Life says many players may not reach the threshold until after the main story unless they focus on research tasks. Rather than assuming one activity is mandatory, use the tasks currently shown in your game to decide what to prioritize.
If you have the base game
Guides identify Trainer battles as a major research bottleneck. Nintendo Wire describes 15 Pokémon-battling requests totaling 1,000 Trainer battles and recommends Restaurant Le Nah as a repeatable battle location. That is a guide-reported route, not a universal requirement for every player: Mable’s Research includes other tasks, and your in-game list shows what remains for your own progress. - Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
If you own Mega Dimension
Nintendo Life reports that Mega Dimension adds research tasks that contribute to the overall research score. Completing those tasks can reduce the need to finish all of the Trainer-battle requests. The available information does not establish a fixed shorter battle count, so check your Mable’s Research tab rather than relying on a promised number. Nintendo Life’s guide

Is the Pokémon HOME Shiny Volcanion reward the same thing?
No. The Pokémon Company separately announced that completing the Lumiose, Mega Evolution, and Hyperspace Pokédexes in Pokémon HOME can earn Shiny Volcanion. That is a distinct HOME reward, not a requirement for unlocking the Shiny Charm in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The Pokémon Company’s announcement
