To unlock Sorcerer in Dragon’s Dogma 2, reach Vernworth, start the Vocation Frustration quest at the Vocation Guild, find an archistaff in Trevo Mine, and bring it back to the guild. The same quest route also asks you to find a greatsword for Warrior.
Start Vocation Frustration in Vernworth
- Progress through the story until you reach Vernworth.
- Visit the Vocation Guild and ask to change to Sorcerer while the vocation is still unavailable. The representative will direct you to the Vocation Frustration quest.
- Speak with Roderick at his smithy in Vernworth to learn where to look for the weapons.
Find the archistaff in Trevo Mine
Trevo Mine is west of Vernworth. Search the mine’s lower areas for the archistaff chest. The route described by IGN’s Vocation Frustration walkthrough leads from a chamber with bridges to a lower dead end containing the archistaff. A separate chest in the mine contains the greatsword needed for the Warrior part of the quest.

Return the weapon to the Vocation Guild
Take the archistaff back to the Vernworth Vocation Guild and hand it over to complete the Sorcerer requirement. The quest also covers Warrior: bring the greatsword from Trevo Mine as well to unlock both vocations through this route. Once Sorcerer is available, you can select it at a Vocation Guild.
What Sorcerer uses
Sorcerers wield archistaves and specialize in powerful spells. Capcom’s official manual describes them as using archistaves to cast a wide range of spells. The manual also explains that you can change vocation at any time by visiting a Vocation Guild.
