Completing the quest opens the normal trial, which requires average item level 725. To unlock Extreme, complete that quest and speak to the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal (X:11.1, Y:14.6); Extreme requires average item level 740. The duty is permanent, not limited-time content.
How to unlock the normal Windward Wilds trial
- Complete the Dawntrail main scenario. This is required before you can accept The White Wanderer. Square Enix’s crossover duty page and the Eorzea Database quest entry list the prerequisite.
- Use a level 100 Disciple of War or Magic. The quest is for a level 100 job in one of those categories.
- Go to the Dawn Hunt Tracker in Tuliyollal. Speak to the NPC at X:13.3, Y:13.1 and accept The White Wanderer.
- Complete the quest. This unlocks the normal Windward Wilds trial. Its minimum average item level is 725.
Square Enix lists the normal duty as a level 100, eight-player trial with a 60-minute time limit. The standard party composition is two tanks, two healers, and four DPS. See the normal duty entry for its listing.

How to unlock The Windward Wilds (Extreme)
- Complete The White Wanderer to unlock the normal trial first.
- As a level 100 Disciple of War or Magic, speak with the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal at X:11.1, Y:14.6.
- Queue for Extreme through the Raid Finder. The minimum average item level is 740.
Extreme is also a level 100, eight-player duty with a 60-minute time limit and the standard two-tank, two-healer, four-DPS composition. Its requirements are listed in the Extreme duty entry and Patch 7.35 notes.

The Patch 7.35 notes say Guardian scales can be exchanged for weapons and items at the Tuliyollian smithy (X:13.2, Y:13.0) after completing The White Wanderer. Extreme’s Guardian Arkveld certificates are needed to enhance Veldian weapons there.

No. Square Enix’s official crossover page explicitly says, “This is not a limited time Duty.” There is no event-window deadline to meet for this trial.
