To go live from YouTube’s mobile app, your channel needs at least 50 subscribers, must be verified, must have no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days, and must have live streaming enabled. YouTube says activation for a first mobile stream can take up to 24 hours. Then open the YouTube app and tap Create → Live.
Check that your channel and phone are eligible
- At least 50 subscribers: This is the minimum for live streaming from the mobile app.
- Verified channel: YouTube requires channel verification to live stream.
- No recent live-streaming restriction: Your channel must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- Live streaming enabled: If this is your first mobile stream, activation may take up to 24 hours after you enable it.
- Compatible operating system: YouTube lists Android 8.0 or later and iOS 8 or later.
- Age: YouTube’s general live-streaming instructions require creators to be at least 16 years old. This is separate from the mobile subscriber minimum.

Enable the feature and start a mobile stream
- Reach 50 subscribers. Confirm the channel meets YouTube’s mobile-app minimum.
- Verify your channel. Complete channel verification if you have not already done so.
- Check for restrictions. Make sure the channel has not had a live-streaming restriction during the previous 90 days.
- Turn on live streaming. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time mobile activation, as YouTube advises.
- Open the YouTube app. Tap Create, then Live.
- Set up the stream. Enter the stream details and choose the audience options that apply.
- Go live. Tap Go live when you are ready. You can also schedule a stream for later or screencast your phone screen.
What 50 subscribers unlocks—and what it does not
Reaching 50 subscribers makes a channel eligible to use mobile live streaming; it does not guarantee an unrestricted audience. YouTube may limit the audience for mobile live streams from channels with 50 to 999 subscribers and may set their archived streams to private by default. YouTube says these changes can take a few weeks to appear. It also says a channel will not lose mobile live-streaming access unless it falls below 50 subscribers.
If the Live option is still unavailable
Check each eligibility condition rather than assuming subscriber count alone is enough:

- Confirm the channel has at least 50 subscribers.
- Confirm the channel is verified.
- Check whether a live-streaming restriction occurred in the past 90 days.
- Make sure live streaming has been enabled and, for a first stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Check that the phone runs Android 8.0 or later, or iOS 8 or later.
YouTube’s official guidance does not specify a separate manual override or another guaranteed fix if the Live option remains unavailable after these checks.
