You can schedule a YouTube live event in YouTube Studio, but scheduling the event does not make a playlist play as a livestream. YouTube’s documented workflow uses an encoder to send the live audio/video feed to the event. To keep Indian classical music playing continuously, you need a source that supplies that feed, plus the necessary rights for every recording you broadcast.
What YouTube scheduling does—and does not do
A scheduled stream creates an upcoming YouTube event and watch page; viewers can see it in advance and opt into a reminder. The encoder is a separate part of the setup: it sends the program to YouTube using the stream URL and key. YouTube’s documented Studio steps do not describe a way to schedule a YouTube playlist itself as an automatically looping, 24/7 live source. In practice, make or select a playlist for the program, then use an encoder or streaming service that can play the recordings and send a continuous feed. Scheduling the event and supplying the feed are distinct jobs.
Prepare the channel, music, and stream plan
Confirm livestream access and rights
Before building the event, confirm that the channel can livestream and that you have the rights required to broadcast every recording and composition. “Classical,” “traditional,” or publicly available on YouTube does not automatically mean a recording is cleared for rebroadcast. Rights can differ between a composition and a particular performance or recording.

YouTube says creators must have the necessary rights to exploit live content, including music licensing rights involving artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace a stream with a placeholder, warn the creator, interrupt or terminate the stream if the content continues, or impose consequences after a strike. Even where you have a licence, the relevant rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid interruptions. For India-specific licensing or a particular repertoire, get qualified rights advice; these general YouTube materials do not settle those legal questions.
Choose how the feed will run
Decide what will play, how it will loop or move through the playlist, and what will happen if the encoder or connection fails. YouTube documents both software encoder workflows and hardware encoder use; dedicated hardware is an option, not a universal requirement. Compare any option against YouTube compatibility, the formats of your audio/video sources, unattended operation, recovery and failover behavior, local recording support, and total operating cost. The official materials do not establish a best encoder model or a current India-specific price.

For a long broadcast, separately plan whether to divide the program into shorter stream sessions and how the feed will continue through those changes. A scheduled event alone does not provide continuous playback or session management.
Schedule the YouTube event and connect an encoder
- Open scheduling in YouTube Studio. Go to Create, choose Go Live, open Manage, then select Schedule Stream. Create a new event or reuse prior settings. Set the title, description, visibility, and other event options. The exact interface can change, so follow the current labels shown in Studio. YouTube Help’s encoder setup documents the workflow.
- Set the event details. Choose a start time and appropriate visibility, and make the title and description clear about the Indian classical music program. Once scheduled, the event can appear as upcoming, allowing viewers to visit the watch page and opt into a reminder.
- Copy the stream URL and key. In the scheduled stream or Live Control Room, find the YouTube stream URL and stream key. Enter both in the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your event. If it is compromised, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings.
- Configure the encoder’s program. Select the prepared recordings or playlist and configure the encoder or service to send them as the live program. The specific controls vary by encoder; YouTube’s scheduling steps do not configure playlist playback for you.
- Start and check the feed. Start the encoder and verify that its preview reaches Live Control Room. Complete the final Go live action if your workflow requires it. Confirm that the expected audio is present and that the picture, if used, is correct before relying on the broadcast.
- Test the unattended plan. Set up and test in advance, check access and preview, monitor audio/video, and test failover if you use a backup encoder. YouTube recommends planning and testing rather than assuming a feed will recover correctly without intervention. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
Plan for the 12-hour archive limit
YouTube says live streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but if a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. Do not promise a complete YouTube replay of a single 24-hour session. If an archive matters, make and retain a local recording backup, check that the resulting file is intact, and decide whether shorter broadcast sessions better fit your archive needs. The scheduled event is visible, but nothing is playing
The event is only the watch page and reminder; it does not play a playlist by itself. Check that an encoder or streaming service is running, that it has the correct URL and key, and that its preview appears in Live Control Room.

The encoder cannot connect to the event
Check that the stream URL and key match the scheduled event and that the encoder is using the intended stream settings. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and replace the stored key in the encoder.
The stream is interrupted or replaced by a warning
Investigate third-party music claims and Content ID status. Confirm that the rights cover the specific recordings and live use, and ask the relevant rights holder about allowlisting the channel where appropriate. A general claim that the music is traditional or licensed is not a substitute for checking the rights and platform status.

The broadcast stops when nobody is at the computer
A local encoder depends on the computer and its power, software, and network continuing to work. Test unattended operation and a recovery or backup plan before the event. YouTube recommends testing failover when a backup encoder is used.
The 24-hour replay is incomplete or missing
A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a local recording if you need an archive, verify the file, and consider shorter sessions instead of relying on one 24-hour YouTube archive.
