The correct update method depends on your Stealth 600 generation. Use Turtle Beach Audio Hub for the original Stealth 600 and Stealth 600 Gen 2. Use Turtle Beach Swarm II for the Stealth 600 Gen 3. Before connecting anything, check whether your headset is the original model, Gen 2 Xbox, Gen 2 PlayStation, or Gen 3.
Which app updates your Stealth 600?
| Headset | Update software | What must be connected |
|---|---|---|
| Original Stealth 600 or Stealth 600 for Xbox One | Turtle Beach Audio Hub | Headset connected to a Windows PC or Mac by USB |
| Stealth 600 Gen 2 Xbox | Turtle Beach Audio Hub | Headset connected directly to a Windows PC or Mac by USB |
| Stealth 600 Gen 2 PlayStation | Turtle Beach Audio Hub | Headset and wireless mini-transmitter connected to two computer USB ports |
| Stealth 600 Gen 3 | Turtle Beach Swarm II | Swarm II on Windows, iOS, or Android |
Do not choose software based only on the words “Stealth 600.” The Xbox and PlayStation editions can use different wireless hardware, and Gen 3 does not follow the older Audio Hub procedure.

Identify your Stealth 600 generation
- Original: Usually labeled “Stealth 600” or “Stealth 600 for Xbox One,” without a Gen 2 or Gen 3 designation.
- Gen 2: Explicitly labeled “Stealth 600 Gen 2.” Confirm whether it is the Xbox or PlayStation version.
- Gen 3: Labeled “Stealth 600 Gen 3” or “Stealth 600 Headset (Gen 3).” This generation supports 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth and uses Swarm II for firmware updates.
Check the label on the headset, box, transmitter, or original purchase listing. Do not assume that a transmitter from one generation or platform will work with another.
What you need before updating
- A charged headset, or reliable power during the update.
- A known-good USB cable that supports data, not just charging.
- A Windows or Mac computer for the original model and Gen 2.
- Two free USB ports for Gen 2 PlayStation.
- A stable internet connection so the updater can check for compatible firmware.
- A direct USB connection where possible. Avoid an unreliable hub, monitor dock, or adapter.
If the software displays the current firmware version, photograph or record it before starting. The updater’s live result—not an old version number listed on a support page—determines whether your headset has an available update.

How to update the original Stealth 600
- Download and install Turtle Beach Audio Hub for Windows or Mac.
- Open Audio Hub.
- Connect the headset directly to the computer with the included or a known-good USB data cable.
- Wait for Audio Hub to detect the headset.
- Follow the on-screen prompt if firmware is available.
- Keep the headset connected and do not power it off, close Audio Hub, or disconnect the cable while the update is running. Turtle Beach says the process may take several minutes.
- When the update finishes, reconnect the headset to the console and test it.
On the original Stealth 600 for Xbox One, Turtle Beach warns that an update can erase the headset’s Xbox Wireless connection. If the headset works over USB but not wirelessly afterward, pair it with the Xbox again.
How to update Stealth 600 Gen 2 Xbox
- Install and open Audio Hub on Windows or Mac.
- Connect the headset itself directly to a computer USB port.
- Wait for Audio Hub to detect it and check for an available update.
- Start the update and leave the headset connected until the software reports completion.
- Restart the Xbox with a complete power cycle rather than simply leaving it in sleep mode.
- Check that the headset is assigned to the intended Xbox profile and test audio and microphone input.
Turtle Beach documents a firmware-recovery procedure for a Gen 2 Xbox headset that becomes unresponsive with a solid red LED:
- Hold Connect + Mode for a full 30 seconds.
- Release the buttons only after the 30 seconds and allow the headset to power off.
- Turn it on again.
- Connect it to a computer with Audio Hub running and apply the available update.
- Completely power-cycle the Xbox and re-pair the headset if necessary.
The 30-second hold is deliberate; releasing early may not perform the reset. See Turtle Beach’s hard-reset and firmware recovery instructions.

This model requires both pieces of wireless hardware during the update. Connecting only the headset is not enough.
- Install and open Audio Hub on Windows or Mac.
- Connect the headset to one computer USB port.
- Connect the wireless mini-transmitter to a second computer USB port.
- Wait for Audio Hub to detect both devices.
- Install the offered firmware update.
- Keep the headset and transmitter connected until the process is complete.
- Reconnect the transmitter to the PlayStation and test game audio, chat audio, and the microphone.
If the transmitter and headset are no longer paired, place both into pairing mode with the two devices close together and still. Wait for their LEDs to become solid. Turtle Beach’s model page lists historical Gen 2 PlayStation firmware version v1.2.8 from September 27, 2021; that is not a universal current-version claim. Let Audio Hub determine whether your unit has a newer compatible update.
How to update Stealth 600 Gen 3
Gen 3 uses Swarm II rather than the older Audio Hub workflow. Turtle Beach lists Swarm II software for Windows and mobile apps for iOS and Android, and its Gen 3 quick-start guide directs users to Swarm II for updates.

- Memory Foam Cushions with Glasses-Friendly Technology
- Swarm II Desktop and Mobile App with Advanced 10-Band EQ
- QuickSwitch Button for Seamless Wireless to Bluetooth switching
- Confirm that the headset is a Gen 3 model.
- Install Swarm II from Turtle Beach’s official Swarm II page on Windows, iOS, or Android.
- Power on the headset and connect it using the supported 2.4GHz wireless or app connection method.
- Open Swarm II and select the Stealth 600 Gen 3 when it appears.
- Check for a firmware update and follow the in-app prompt.
- Keep the headset powered and connected until Swarm II confirms completion.
- Restart the headset, then test 2.4GHz audio, Bluetooth, microphone operation, and flip-to-mute behavior.
Swarm II’s exact button names and screen layout can change. Select the detected headset and follow the current firmware prompt rather than relying on an old menu path. The retrieved Turtle Beach information establishes Windows, iOS, and Android support for Gen 3; it does not establish a Mac desktop update route. If you only have a Mac, use a supported Swarm II option or contact Turtle Beach support.

For the original and Gen 2 models, the standard official route is a Windows or Mac computer running Audio Hub—not the Xbox or PlayStation system menus. Gen 3 uses Swarm II on Windows or mobile. Connecting the headset to a console may let you use it, but it is not generally the firmware-update method.
What to do if the update fails
Audio Hub or Swarm II does not detect the headset
- Try another direct USB port.
- Avoid an unpowered hub, monitor dock, or unreliable adapter.
- Use another cable known to support data. A cable that charges the headset may not provide computer communication.
- Close and reopen the updater, then restart the computer.
- Confirm that the software matches the generation.
- For Gen 2 PlayStation, verify that both the headset and mini-transmitter are connected.
These are practical troubleshooting steps, not a guarantee that every third-party cable or hub is compatible.
The update appears frozen
Do not immediately unplug the headset. Give the updater time to change status, because firmware installation can take several minutes. If the application is genuinely unresponsive, close it, restart the computer, reconnect the headset directly, and try again. If the headset will not power on or remains undetected afterward, use the model-specific recovery procedure or contact Turtle Beach support. A failed firmware update cannot always be recovered by the user.
The headset charges but will not update
Charging and data transfer are separate functions. Replace the cable with a known-good data cable and connect directly to the computer. If Audio Hub still cannot detect an original or Gen 2 headset, confirm the correct model page and try another computer or USB port before seeking support.
The headset lost console pairing
For Xbox Wireless models, turn on the console and headset, press the console’s enroll/pair button until it flashes, then hold the headset’s Connect button until its LED flashes. Wait for both LEDs to become solid.

For Gen 2 PlayStation, reconnect the mini-transmitter to the console, power on the headset, and initiate pairing if both LEDs double-blink. Keep the devices close and still until both LEDs become solid. Use the official Gen 2 PlayStation guide if the LED behavior differs.
Audio or microphone still does not work
First confirm that the headset powers on and is paired to the correct platform. Check the console or PC’s output and microphone device selection, lower the microphone boom and verify flip-to-mute behavior, then test again. Firmware may fix bugs or compatibility problems, but Turtle Beach does not guarantee that every update will improve audio on every headset.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to confirm the update worked
- The updater confirms completion or returns to the normal device screen.
- The same firmware prompt no longer appears for the connected device.
- The headset powers on normally.
- Wireless audio works on the intended console or PC.
- The microphone captures voice and flip-to-mute works.
- Gen 2 PlayStation audio works through the transmitter.
- Gen 3 Bluetooth works on a compatible phone or Steam Deck, if that is part of your setup.
For Gen 2 Xbox PC use, ordinary wireless operation may require a computer with built-in Xbox Wireless or a separately sold Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows. That adapter is not normally required just to perform the Audio Hub firmware update.

Check when Turtle Beach support documents a problem affecting your model, when the updater reports an available update, or when you are troubleshooting pairing, microphone, or compatibility issues. Do not treat an old firmware number on a support page as the latest version for every headset. Historical pages include, for example, original Xbox One firmware 2.4.1 dated December 18, 2017 and Gen 2 PlayStation v1.2.8 dated September 27, 2021. The updater’s current result for your specific device is authoritative.
When replacement hardware is appropriate
Do not buy a new headset simply because you need a firmware update. Try the correct free software, a direct USB port, and a known-good data cable first. If a transmitter is missing or defective, it must match the headset’s generation and Xbox or PlayStation edition; a generic Bluetooth adapter is not automatically a replacement for Turtle Beach’s proprietary 2.4GHz transmitter. Consider replacement only when the headset remains undetected, will not power on, has a failed battery, or is incompatible with the required platform. Turtle Beach lists the Stealth 600 Gen 3 with platform-specific compatibility, but prices and availability can change.
