In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, pay Tom Nook your 5,000-Nook-Mile move-in fee, then arrange construction of your house. The house is ready by the next day. Its 98,000-Bell construction loan is a separate payment from the move-in fee.
How to replace your tent with a house
- Earn Nook Miles. Everyday activities such as pulling weeds, fishing, catching bugs, furnishing your tent, and creating a custom design can earn Miles, according to Nintendo’s beginner guide.
- Pay the move-in fee. Speak to Tom Nook about your outstanding fees and pay 5,000 Nook Miles. You can redeem Miles at the Nook Stop terminal in Resident Services. Nintendo confirms the Miles-based payment; the exact 5,000-Mile amount is listed by the community-maintained Nookipedia house reference.
- Order house construction. Once the move-in fee is paid, talk to Tom Nook to request the house. Nintendo says it will be completed by the next day.
How much does the house cost?
The initial house construction loan is 98,000 Bells, according to Nookipedia. This is separate from the 5,000 Nook Miles move-in payment: Miles pay the initial fees, while Bells are owed for construction. Nintendo’s guide confirms the payment sequence but does not state either exact amount, so the figures come from that secondary reference.
What you get when the house is built
The house gives you more space than the tent and lets you store items and materials, Nintendo explains. Nookipedia lists 80 storage slots for the initial house; that figure is from its game reference, not Nintendo’s beginner guide.
Which Animal Crossing game is this for?
These steps and amounts are for Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo Switch, not every game in the Animal Crossing series. Nintendo’s product page identifies New Horizons as Nintendo Switch software.
