To upgrade planes efficiently in Wings of Heroes, focus plane-specific Parts and Silver on aircraft you actually plan to fly, then reserve shared Tokens for technologies above tier 2. Parts cannot be freely moved between planes, so spreading them across your hangar can slow progress on a preferred aircraft. Treat that as a resource-planning principle—not a guaranteed best build: the official sources do not publish a universal technology order or comparative upgrade costs.
What each upgrade resource does
| Resource | How it applies to upgrades and progression |
|---|---|
| Parts | Plane-specific; used with Silver for that plane’s technologies through tier 2. |
| Tokens | Shared across planes; needed for technology upgrades beyond tier 2. |
| Silver | Base currency used alongside Parts to upgrade unlocked planes. |
| Blueprints | Plane-specific resources used to unlock planes in tiers you have reached. Blueprints for a plane you already own convert into Parts. |
| Gold | Premium currency described mainly for time-restricted activities, Wheel of Fortune spins, and store currencies or offers; the Help Center does not describe it as a required technology-upgrade resource. |
These resource roles are described in the Wings of Heroes Help Center. Parts are the main constraint when developing a particular aircraft because each plane has its own supply; Tokens are more flexible but become relevant for technology beyond tier 2.
How to allocate resources without wasting them
- Pick an aircraft to prioritize. Focus its Parts and the Silver needed for its upgrades rather than trying to develop every owned plane at once. This is a sensible inference from the plane-specific Parts rule, not an official prescribed build.
- Check how Parts are distributed. The Help Center describes Random Parts as spread across owned planes, Highest Tier rewards as prioritizing planes in the highest unlocked tier, and Premium Parts as going to owned planes that are not fully upgraded. These describe reward allocation; they do not guarantee a particular plane will receive a drop.
- Save Tokens for the tier-2-to-tier-3 step. Parts cover technologies through tier 2, while Tokens are required beyond that point. Since Tokens work across planes, decide which aircraft’s higher-tier technologies best support your current progression before spending them.
- Budget Silver with Parts. Parts alone are not the full upgrade cost: the Help Center says Silver is used alongside them.
- Read the current in-game cost before confirming. Upgrade pacing and unlock costs were changed in the 2026 progression update, so older cost guides may not match your current game.
Where to get Parts, Tokens, Silver, and Blueprints
The Help Center lists several acquisition channels, with the available sources varying by resource:
| Resource | Sources listed by the Help Center |
|---|---|
| Parts | Battle crates, event rewards, Wheel of Fortune, Battle Pass, and the in-game store. |
| Tokens | Battles, events, Wheel of Fortune, Battle Pass, and the in-game store. |
| Silver | Battles, battle crates, events, Wheel of Fortune, and the in-game store. |
| Blueprints | Blue battle crates, event rewards, Wheel of Fortune, Battle Pass, and the in-game store. |
The official list does not compare quantities, drop rates, time investment, or rewards per activity. It therefore does not establish a single fastest way to farm any of these resources. Gold may be used to purchase currencies or offers, but no price or purchase is necessary to follow the allocation approach above.

What the 2026 progression update means
Ten Square Games reported that its 2026 progression update introduced four aircraft rarity classes—Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary—and changed blueprint distribution, unlock costs, and upgrade pacing. The developer said Common aircraft are easier to unlock and that rarer aircraft are more distinctly differentiated within each tier. Its stated design aim was to connect campaigns, rarities, economy changes, and new modes into a broader progression system; that is the developer’s description of intent, not proof that upgrades are faster or more rewarding for every player. Read the Ten Square Games update dated July 7, 2026 for the announcement.
What is not established about the best upgrade path
The official material does not provide per-plane upgrade costs, a tested technology priority list, performance comparisons between builds, or a fastest resource-farming comparison. There is no evidence here for a universal best plane or a fixed upgrade sequence. Use the current requirements shown in your game and choose priorities based on the aircraft you intend to fly, rather than relying on unverified cost tables or build rankings.
