Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteYou can’t keep a YouTube channel live 24/7 by uploading one long video: a normal upload is limited to 256 GB or 12 hours, whichever is less. For continuous playback, create a YouTube Live stream in Live Control Room and send it from an encoder. If you want the video available on demand, upload it normally instead. YouTube’s surfaced guidance gives the same upload limits for India as elsewhere; it does not establish a separate India-only cap or continuous-stream procedure.
Can I upload a 24-hour video to YouTube?
No. YouTube Help says the maximum uploaded file is 256 GB or 12 hours, whichever is less. Uploads longer than 15 minutes require a verified account, and YouTube advises using an up-to-date browser for files over 20 GB. These limits apply to a regular video upload, not to how long an encoder-based live broadcast can run. YouTube Help: Upload videos longer than 15 minutes.
If the file exceeds the upload limit
If you need a regular on-demand upload, shorten the video or compress it. YouTube specifically recommends H.264 compression to reduce file size while maintaining quality; check the encoded result before uploading because compression can affect picture quality. A 24/7 live stream is a different workflow and does not require uploading the entire programme as one YouTube video.
How do I stream a pre-recorded video 24/7 on YouTube?
Create a live stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and send it through an encoder. The encoder plays the pre-recorded source and sends a live signal using YouTube’s server URL and stream key. YouTube supports both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. Its guidance does not prescribe a universal playlist-repeat application, so choose an encoder that supports the playback and continuous-loop behavior you need, and confirm that capability before relying on it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Check channel eligibility. Verify the channel and confirm it has no live-stream restriction from the previous 90 days. First-time live streaming can take up to 24 hours to become available, so enable it before the day you plan to start. See YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room, then create or schedule the broadcast. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown there.
- Configure the encoder. Add the server URL and stream key in the encoder’s streaming settings. Select the pre-recorded video or playlist as its source and configure repeat playback if the chosen software or hardware supports it. Treat the stream key as a password: do not publish it, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Set resolution and bitrate for your connection. Run an upload-speed test on the connection that will send the stream. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom; if you send primary and backup streams, allow for both. For H.264, YouTube’s settings guidance gives 1080p30 a 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended bitrate, and 1080p60 a 6 Mbps minimum and 17 Mbps recommended. These are platform guidance values, not a guarantee of stable delivery on your connection. Check YouTube’s current encoder guidance for other resolutions, frame rates, and codecs: YouTube Help: Encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
- Test before going live. Start the encoder and inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream health before starting the broadcast. Test footage with motion and audio similar to the actual programme; monitor health after going live as well. YouTube Help: Use an encoder for live streaming.
- Keep a local recording. Enable recording on the computer or encoder where possible and check that the local file is growing. YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, but a longer stream may not be captured at all, so its archive is not a safe sole copy for continuous broadcasting. YouTube Help: Archive live streams.
How should I choose an encoder and connection?
| Route | What to weigh |
|---|---|
| Software encoder | Can avoid buying a dedicated appliance. Check that the software can play and repeat your source continuously, recover as needed, and provide monitoring and local recording. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | A separate appliance option for higher-production setups. Check supported codecs and resolutions, continuous-playback automation, recovery, monitoring, and recording before buying; the cited YouTube guidance does not establish model-by-model prices or reliability. |
Regardless of route, measure the actual outbound capacity where the encoder will run rather than choosing a bitrate from the video’s file size or your advertised internet plan. Leave the recommended headroom, test the full workflow, and monitor stream health. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish India-specific ISP performance, data pricing, or power reliability.
What happens if my YouTube upload gets interrupted?
For a regular video upload, YouTube says you can resume an interrupted upload for up to 24 hours: return to the upload flow and select the same file. Upload duration depends on file size, bandwidth, traffic, and quality. If the resume window passes or the same-file resume does not work, start the upload again. See YouTube Help: Upload videos.

What if the live stream has an error?
- No preview or stream detected: Confirm the encoder is sending to the server URL for the intended event and that the correct stream key is entered. Check the encoder’s connection status and Live Control Room preview before starting.
- Unstable stream health: Compare the encoder bitrate with measured outbound speed, reduce bitrate or resolution if needed, and retain bandwidth headroom. Check whether another upload or stream is consuming the connection; run another test before resuming.
- Broadcast stops unexpectedly: Check the encoder, its source playback, and the network connection. YouTube says it can take time for an encoder to reconnect; use the Live Control Room’s stream-health indicators and the specific error message to diagnose the issue. Review YouTube Help: Fix live streaming errors.
- Upload stalls or fails: Check file size and duration against YouTube’s limit, use an up-to-date browser for a file over 20 GB, and retry through the upload flow with the same file within the 24-hour resume window.
- Archive is incomplete or missing: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use a local recording and verify that it is being written during the broadcast.
Protect the video and the channel
Only stream recordings you have permission to use, including music, game footage, and other people’s video. A live broadcast does not grant rights to copyrighted material. Review YouTube’s current copyright and live-stream policies before scheduling, and keep the original recording and a separate local archive. The archive limit is especially important for a 24/7 feed: even if the live broadcast continues, the complete stream may not be saved by YouTube.
